The managing director, Gery L. Deer, is an award-winning professional whip performer and coach and director of the ONLY full-time, dedicated whip arts studio in the country. Deer performs all around the US and is the founder and educational consultant of the Society of American Whip Artistry (http://www.whipsociety.com) and coordinator of the Ohio regional branch of the Wild West Arts Club . Deer offers private lessons and group workshops on location or at his private training facility near Xenia, Ohio. He was recently named international advisor on the whip to the World Stunt Association and presents a lecture series at various film and literature conventions.
Gery L. Deer is a proven entertainer, technician, production manager, and writer and has provided technical advisory services, whip equipment, and consulting to major motion picture studios, performers, and hobbyists all over the world. In 2003 Gery provided whip equipment and consulting for the prop and costuming staff for the Universal Studios film, "The Rundown."
Deer has worked with some of the best whip handlers and trainers in the business including professional stuntman and whip coach Alex Green (Mask of Zorro, Peacemakers). Deer offers whip coaching on location or at his indoor training facility near Xenia, Ohio.
Gery performs along side his wife and partner, Barbara "Scout" Deer, providing entertainment for virtually every type of venue from comedy clubs to Wild West shows.
In 2005, they appeared on the WB's "Steve Harvey's Big Time Challenge."
Their performance titled "The Supersonic Art of the Whip" is both entertaining and informative. Their signature "Candle Whippers(tm)" and Card Shark routines have been seen on national television (Steve Harvey's Big Time Challenge - March 2005 and AMERICA'S GOT TALENT - July 2006).
