Sounds Like
If you like Texas Music like Randy Rogers mixed with a little Pearl Jam and a little Billy Joe, you just might like us. We try not to compare ourselves to these pre-mentioned musicians as we like to think we have a distinct sound. We try to take the best of the old and combine it with the best of the new. When we have our material posted on the site please let us know what you think.
-WHISKeYFISH BAND
WHISKeYFISH, born and raised in Van Zandt County, started out as two brothers, Matt and J.P. Fisher, who loved to play guitar, and write great lyrics. They began making music and singing their songs for family and friends and playing venue's around Canton, in songwriters' showcases, and even in the Ft. Worth stockyards. Later on, drummer Jonathon Wilson became good friends with Matt and was asked to sit in and play at a party one night while Matt played guitar for a very modest crowd. Later the three, J.P, Matt, and Wilson, (known as the J.P. Fisher Band) practiced a couple of songs to perform at their very first show ever, The Colgate Country Showdown. Soon after that, Jacob Phillips, long time friend to Matt and J.P., was asked to join the band and play bass for the group. In 2006 they changed the bands name to WHISKeYFISH and it has been what's for dinner ever since. Another one time Colgate Country Showdown solo contestant, and former co-worker of J.P., Daniel Young of Tyler, joined the band in 2007 as T-shirt designer after the band was in need of merchandise. While helping out with booking and selling "shwag", the band invited Daniel from behind the merch table and onto the stage, now playing Rhythm guitar. The band's been playing together all and all for about 3 years now. Their debut CD, Sushi, was recorded in Fall '06, and produced by the one and only Rodney Pyeatt of the Stoney Larue Band. In 2007, came the release of the anticipated singles "Broken Glass" and "She's leavin Now". While the band spent last fall/early winter in the studio, some new tunes will be available later this summer including the newest single "Alone but Alive".
