Whispered Tales Of The Ohio Valley's Interests

I was born and raised in the Ohio Valley. I can remember wanting to leave this valley with a passion. I moved out west in the early 80's but returned home after 3 years. As I grew older, I realized what a wonderful place this is. Lush hills, the majestic river and a lot of interesting history. At an early age I was fascinated with places such as Grave Creek Mound, McCollough's Leap, The House that Jack Built and many more. I enjoyed the stories my dad told me about them. As I explored cemeteries I would see the final resting places of those who created history and interesting stories. I don't have a fascination with the dead but it's more like... "Wow, here they are and it really did happen." I enjoy photographing these places of rest and history. I appreciate the beautiful artwork and poetic words of the monuments.
I do have a great interest in the paranormal. I would love to know 'what, where and why' if that is even possible, though I feel that science can and will explain some of what we call paranormal. I doubt it will ever do more than touch the tip of the iceberg. This is a field where there are no experts.
This site is not about horror and dark energies. It is also not a place about religion. Beliefs may play a role in some paranormal experiences but this is not one of my focuses. It is a place to share personal experiences by the people of the Ohio Valley. These experiences may be of hauntings, ufo's anything that is not of our daily, ordinary lives...the unexplained. As mentioned, it's also a place about local legends, myths, oddities and history.
On a more personal note. I'm married, the mom of three and grandma of three. I work outside of my home and am a published, freelance artist. Art has been my voice for a very long time and I'm eager to take on this new medium of writing. I'm a common, every-day person who speaks and writes in an every-day way. I'm sure my editor will have his hands full! Regardless, I feel your stories and experiences, what I have researched and discovered are worth sharing.
I would like to take this time to thank my daughter, who has been a huge help with the research of this book. From a young age she's been with me on many explorations.
Thank you all for showing an interest in this book and thank you for your own tales, tips and information. Please keep them coming!

Interested in visiting some of the local haunts in the Upper Ohio River Valley area? This is a new group where we plan outings to local places of interest. Come and join us!
The Upper Ohio River Valley is not only rich in beauty but full of history and mystery. Within these rolling hills are many stories told and to be told. Stories not of a nature that we experience in our daily lives, but stories of a nature we've yet to understand. Through my own personal experiences and the experiences of others I've met over the years, I have found that there is much paranormal, unexplained history and present activity in this rather quiet valley.
The book is not limited to the paranormal but will also have fascinating 'not so well known, lost history' re-discovered.
Through my research I've discovered much more than I could have imagined. I'm eager to share these discoveries with all of you! Even if you're not a believer in the paranormal, you may find the factual history quite interesting.
There will be well known tales and personal tales...your tales. Do you have one to share? I'm looking for experiences within your own home or other places, past or present. Also local legends. Tales of cemeteries, hospitals, coalmines, Indian mounds, crimes, train tunnels and much, much more! It's truly endless what this valley whispers! I use the term 'whisper' because it is not a subject that one freely talks about. Talking about your haunted house over lunch with co-workers will most likely cause some strange looks and comments. But I have found that when the topic comes up in a safe surrounding, most are eager to share their experiences. It is my desire to let these stories be told.
I'm seeking information for the makings of a book that share these local experiences. I'm also very interested in paranormal photos from the area and legends (did you know that giants once walked in our area?), myths and any other unexplained, 'supernatural', paranormal topics. What a fascinating area we live in!
You may have noticed that there are some sources which focus on these topics within the states of WV and Ohio. But you may have also notice that very little is mentioned about our area. And this is exactly what the book will be about. Our people, our land, our history, our legends and our tales.
Of course your privacy will be respected. And nothing will be published that you do not wish to be published.
If you have any of the above and are in Upper Ohio River Valley area of Ohio or West Virginia, especially Belmont, Harrison, Jefferson and Monroe counties in Ohio or Ohio, Marshall, Brooke and Wetzel counties in West Virginia, please contact me through myspace or email me WhisperedTales@sbcglobal.net
Thanks! Oh,if you message me here on myspace, please put something in the subject space. There's been so much spam and other unwanted spyware in messages 'no subject' I just can't open them anymore. Thanks again!

Sincere, fascinating people who would like to tell their personal tales.
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." Albert Einstein
