About KaOus aka Whisper [Follow Twitter @whispermuzik]
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, KaOus aka Whisper is none like ever heard before. Whisper started as a singer in 2000, writing songs that never made it to the recording stage. While learning techniques to better his singing talent, he began to become affiliated with the street life. As a result, Whisper gave up singing to be with his 'peoples.' In 2002, he began rapping - starting a group MSZ (pronounced M-Z), which was also somewhat of a dead-end. Passionate with the new found love for rap music, he began to find ways to record even though he never made enough money to record in an actual studio.
In 2004, he began to write songs - album worthy, to his standards. Once he turned 15 in late 2005, he began to make preparations for the album, In Money We Trust. While doing so, he also began to compose his own instrumentals. In 2006, In Money We Trust was released. After the release, he started another group, Da Fam - Rio, K.P. "Mr. Chicago", and Jon (and in 2008, TDB). In 2007, he released another album, Detroit Muzik featuring songs that were recorded in a studio - his first time. Later that year, he also released Motown Soundz and Mizzfit Muzik, which had all new songs. It was also said that another album entitled, By Myself, was to be released but it was never finished. In March of 2008, he released the album, Split Personality. Split Personality was the reintroduction of him as himself of four, or commonly know as split personalities; Whisper, Tha K-K, Da Mizzfit, and Lil Msz. After writing the song "Lil Msz vs. Whisper" in 2005, he realized that he had created more characters in his songs, mostly about his mischif as a young teen to present time, which brought forth the album. Because of fustrations with collecting fans and listeners, it was said that he was giving up, or retiring. Nevertheless, in September of 2008, he released the mixtape, Tha Nu Beginnin', which was written in 2 weeks and finished in another two, yet, held for over a month before actually releasing it. At the same time of releasing the mixtape, he joined the YouthVille Spoken Word Poetry Collective. Guided by Ameer, Whisper found a new way of expressing himself. Then at the dawn of 2009, he released another mixtape, Tha Nu Beginnin', Vol. Two.
"The first mixtape I kind of just threw together. I didn't really take my time with it. Every mixtape gets better because, in my opinion, I constantly get better lyrically," says Whisper. "Wait until everyone notices. I feel I'm subliminal. My style copies the beats I find and use. For example, the "A Milli" track by Lil Wayne, my style copied him because of the beat; that's how he did it. Only on the album will people see the real style that I have. I can't wait until I finish it."
"Even though my favorite genre of music is hip hop, I also like metal. I like the real poetics, if that's even a word, that they use. Bands like Chevelle and Disturbed, its like they have a real passion. I say Chevelle and Disturbed because that's basically the only metal bands I listen to, that and Slipknot. My main influences are Eminem, Nas, Jay-Z, 2Pac, Big L, Ludacris, D12, Blade Icewood, and other lyrical hip hop artists. I incorporate alot of my influence in my music, and you can really tell by the instrumentals that I use. If I ever use your instrumental on a mixtape or anything, your beat, to me, is truely one of the best. Besides metal and hip hop, there's nothing like R&B, Classical - just Mozart, and Rap. Although I might say rap is bull, because it kind of is, I listen to it because what the artist says or claim he/she does is bull, the context of what's going on isn't. I'm not trying to say that Jeezy's or somebody's music is not true, I'm saying I feel it because I experienced it some way or fashion. That's one of my influences, also. I can never write anything if I haven't experienced it. How would I know anything about if I haven't experienced it?"
