Whispers in the Shadow was formed by Ashley Dayour (Voice, Guitars, also known as guitarist for L’ame immortelle & Veneno para las Hadas amongst others) back in the days of early summer 1996.

After beginning as a very 80's inspired band, with drum computer sequences and a melodic bass guitar, this project turned into an individual band, which is now described by the press as "Dark Epic Wave". In the meantime the band has included a "real" drummer in their line-up and became famous for their obvious live qualities. The partly furious, partly sad guitars meet booming bass sounds, thunderous drums and psychedelic keyboards - Above all Ashley's voice, bursting with emotion. To date they released 5 records, every one different than the other, from the very "The Cure" and 80's Wave inspired "Laudanum" and "November" up to the more up beat and rock orientated "A Taste of Decay".

There last studio release was "Permanent Illusions" a concept album in the tradition of 70's psychedelic records like "Pink Floyd" or "Aphrodite’s Child" mixed with a 21st century alternative rock sounding and songwriting. Followed by "Everything you knew was wrong" a double CD compilation feat. live tracks from the successful “Noizeart-Tour” as well as old and unreleased recordings.

Throughout the years Ashley's lyrics, originally inspired by authors like Philip K. Dick or H.P. Lovecraft, also found there own identity. For him the main purpose of the lyrics is to create images in the head of the listener. The strongest inspiration is life itself; with all its bright and dark sides. A certain sort of irony is always present. "Things that are taken too seriously lose their credibility"; this is how Ashley once hit the nail on the square.

Since 1999 Whispers in the Shadow were constantly touring throughout europe and they've never been afraid of breaking boarders and exploring new sounds and new ways of songwriting as well as improvising on stage. More than once they played stunning epic versions of songs who hit the 15min mark.

2007: To celebrate the 10th anniverary they released another live recorded album called A-COLD-NIGHT featuering "whispers classics" like "Drowning like the Moon", "Nothing stays Forever" and a stunning cover of The Stooges song "I wanna be your Dog".

2008/The Future: First there will be the long awaited re-release of the first two Whispers in the Shadow records: LAUDANUM & NOVEMBER both digitaly remastered and with bonus tracks from that early period. Later this year we will release our first studio album since ages! Working title: "INTO THE ARMS OF CHAOS - how to steal the fire from heaven. This will be a new beginning for us, both musicaly and lyrical wise.
