Hailing From baltimore,Maryland Whisteria Cottage was formed in 2006 with Mike Comegys And Chris Booth. In 2007 the group went through a huge break and got a new drummer and a 2nd guitarist and from there they have been busy ever since. In Feb. of 2008 they recorded an EP with Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, Through the Eyes of the Dead, Killwhitneydead). This was a huge break for them as it turned the heads of Alex Pavlov and Statik Factory Records. In the Summer of 2008 Whisteria Cottage completed their first tour and also signed to SFR. In Late 2008 the band recorded their Debut album "Heathen" with Jamie King.
In 2009 the band has been consistently touring and also had their Debut album release on January 27th.Be sure to keep an eye out for them in 2009 as they will be touring constantly and going all over the us!

This album is full of brutal lyrics, intense guitar parts, grinding basslines and thundering drums. Although, at some points the band has some melodic/epic sounding parts there is a lot of dark very heavy parts.Heathen is an outstanding debut album for this up and coming band. Whisteria Cottage is a band in a somewhat overpopulated scene, deathcore. Since bands like Suicide Silence, Job for a Cowboy and Whitechapel took off so did 3000 start up bands that want to be ANGRY, ANGRY and more ANGRY. The more chugga and grunts the better. Well this scene, to me, has completed trashed itself too quickly and we find it hard to even put a deathcore band in our music players, well unless you’re a scenester. Well, that rant being said, Whisteria Cottage was a pleasant surprise in my CD player to say the least; in fact, if you like deathcore this should be at the forefront of your musical experiences.. Musically it is more chaotic than Suicide Silence or Whitechapel, but also less confusing than bands like Job for a Cowboy.The guitar work is fast and to the point, with few solos but overall solid riffs. The drum work is quick and relentless, never giving up or slowing down.Whisteria Cottage has put together an album that outshines and outplays most bands in the deathcore/metalcore scene. They are a clear frontrunner and hopefully time will help them grow the ladder, if the deathcore is not already too saturated first. This is definitely an album I would recommend to friends and all of you out there in musically candyland.

Whisteria Cottage's debut album, Heathen, is easily one of the most kick ass 'Deathcore' records to come out in quite some time, though this is probably due to the fact that it's not exactly a run-of-the-mill 'Deathcore'record.dose of grinding blast beats,kick ass head nodding groove oriented thrashing staccato rhythms.Whisteria Cottage actually has a huge arsenal of riffs to choose from. And they put everything they have in that arsenal to use, mixing the best elements of Swedish Melodic Death Metal with Deathcore, Death Metal, and a lethal dose of solid Thrash rhythms, resulting in one hell of an album.. Vocalist Mike Comegys has managed to layer one rather raw vocal scream over another to make for a rather interesting somewhat distorted "dirty" deathcore rasp that is truly unlike that of any of his peers.

Im not exactly sure what deathcore is...but this album is great! I haven't heard of this band before really, but people compare them to White Chapel and Suicide Silence, but I disagree, as I can actually tolerate this album and enjoy it.WC reminds me of older A Life Once Lost stuff, blasting drums with semi-technical guitar parts over top, splashes with timely breakdowns.The guitar parts are catchy and fast,coupled with the non stop blast beats and booming bass hits makes it great .The vocalist is on the higher end of the scale, with a slight screech in his voice that just adds to the overall feel of the cd.Im gonna say if you love metal, you probably wouldn't like this album, because its not really that amazing from a metal standpoint, but if you are into hardcore and metalcore, you will certainly dig this.
