About The White Cockatoo Performing Group
Darryl Dikarrna Truck Appeal
Didjeridu Master suffers heart attack.

White Cockatoo didjeridu master Darryl Dikarrna suffered a serious heart attack in March 2009 and is now recovering. As a result of his debilitation Darryl needs a Toyota 4 wheel drive vehicle to get him around and assist with his recovery.

Prior to the heart attack, when not busy with his cultural and ceremonial responsibilities, Darryl had been working in a mud brick factory at his commmunity. He was saving to purchase his first truck. Now unable to tour with his performing company or work in the dusty conditions of the brick factory Darryl's truck plans have been devastated. The truck is now an urgent priority to enable Darryl to keep in touch with his family, carry out his ceremony business and particularily, to get the medical attention he needs to make a speedy recovery.

We are asking all of Darryl's and the company's supporters, and didjeridu lovers world wide, to contribute to help Darryl buy his truck.

Contributions can be made direct to Darryl's bank account. All contibutions will be acknowledged by Darryl and contibutors who consent to being named will be acknowleged here on our web site.

Darryl's target is AUD$10,000 or about US$6,000.

Contact us info@whitecockatoo.com
We will send you Darryl's bank account details

This unique performing company comes from Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia. The artists are a group of senior Aboriginal men from the Mialili, Rembarrnga, Guningu and Burrara language groups, who share the same social and family affiliations. Their country is the traditional birthplace and home of the Australian Aboriginal musical instrument, the Didjeridu.

White Cockatoo would like to thank the Totenaca tribal elders and the Cumbre Tahin Festival, Mexico, for the opportunity to share their culture and participate in this Totenaca celebration. The company also performed in Xalapa and Papalanta and visited the Tahin pyramids and old city.

The company founder, didjeridu master David Blanasi, traveled extensively throughout the world for over three decades and it was he who brought the didjeridu to national and international prominence for the first time. His extraordinary virtuosity made him the 'free jazz' master of the Western Arnhem Land 'Gunborg' tradition, where the continuous drone of the didjeridu is syncopated in time with the songmen.

In the years 1998-2001 Western Arnhem Land first lost songmaster Djoli Laiwanga (the Black Cockatoo) and then his didjeridu master David Blanasi (the White Cockatoo). Their corroboree was passed on to the songmasters Jack Nawilill and David Yirindilli. Jack and David have inherited these songs in what is one of the world's oldest unbroken artistic traditions. Despite the prominence of the didjeridu, it is the songmen who own and create the songs and decide what kind of accompaniment the didjeridu player will provide.

Jack Nawilill and David Yirindilli have chosen Darryl Dikarrna Brown as their didjeridu accompanist and Darryl now proudly plays in the tradition of his late and great didjeridu master, David Blanasi, who is remembered every time the White Cockatoo Performing Group appear in Australia or around the world.

Hello friends of Woodroot World,
in addition to our webradio we've installed a new music-video-portal www.woodroot-video.eu. Hence we would be glad to upload your high quality videos. To our concerns it's only the quality that counts, the filesize of the video is irrelevant.
We are also looking for good music for our webradio www.woodroot-radio.eu. So if you send a CD to us we will also appreciate it.
Kind regards and best wishes - Ballog
Hallo Freunde der Woodroot World;

Hello to the White Cockatoo Performing Group,

Thanks so much for the Add–and your friendship. We enjoyed your music very much. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. It's a pleasure having you among our friends!

We've just added two new blogs about Umano, plus four more new compositions, making ten on our space. We hope you and your friends visit us and enjoy our music, too.

We wake up every morning and play the music of the new MySpace friends who have arrived at our site during the night. It occurred to us that these friends (you are among them) are almost universally positive, whether they be novices or legends, and without regard to their station in life or the country they occupy.

Although it's not an original thought, it also occurred to us that we couldn’t hold a verbal conversation with most of these friends, but we have bridged that gap by expressing our art honestly with each other. We all have been filling the world with our music and art, in the hope that our messages of love and human understanding will have an impact on the world at large.

What a gift and what an opportunity we have received from this technology!
