Vardøger was formed in 1995 by Tom Arne, Peter and Robert.
They wanted to create a prog metal band with inspiration from
norwegian folk music and recorded a album in the summer of 1997.
At that point Stian had joined the group on bass, and Tom recruited
Knut Anders on keyboard, and the group was complete.
After some gigs here and there, the band drifted apart.
The members was spread all over Norway and in was close
to impossible to maintain rehearsal for gigs and to write new music.
In 2003 a record company decided to release the album who was recorded
in 1997, so the old songs finally saw the light of day. By then Robert
was playing in another band (Grievance) and Vardøger got a new guitarist named Kristian (The Crest). They then re-recorded the album from 1997
and Whitefrozen was released. Some gigs was done after that, but once again
the band fell apart. Stian went on tour with The Crest, Tom Arne did a album
with Crest of Darkness (And lots of other stuff, check his myspace page), Peter did some work with his old band Shaliach, Knut Anders was making a name for himself as a vocalist
and was actually headhunted to represent Norway in the Eurovision songcontest
in Istanbul 2004 among lots of other things. So the members keept busy,
but Vardøger stayed frozen.
But then..
In 2007 the band was asked to do a gig in Sweden and they decided to go for it.
Now, a great guitarist (Alex) had joined in and sparkled some magic over the band, and the gig turned out to be a turningpoint. The comeback and the concert
was magical and turned out fantastic. After the event the band decided to get back on track and produce new song, since they all realized that Vardøger cant
be frozen, nor could it ever split up. Its rooted in their souls. Peter and Alex had been working on a song for the new album in the beginning of 2008 and they sent a email with the song to Robert who was now living in Finland, and the result was so good he got on a plane and rejoined Vardøger.
So now the original family is back togheter and their new full lenght album
with the working title "Naade" will be done and finished around december 2009.

Ah, I love you all. It'd be great to see you play America's Cornerstone festival one year...In the past we've gotten Extol, Antestor, Drotnarr, Frosthrdr, and Crimson Moonlight...But to my knowledge, you guys havne't made it there yet.

I am bracing myself! I just wanted to ask, what does "Naade" stand for and what will the lyrical theme be behind the album?
