Their name was inspired by the sound of Joe Cocker’s album, With A Little Help From My Friends.
The White Gospel are an Essex based five-piece, fronted by singer/songwriter David Arscott. Of French and
English blood, his writing seems to bare the emotional melancholy from the Parisian cobblestone alleys to the streets
of London’s over-spill county, Essex.
Consisting of an acrobatic voice, the shimmer and twang of guitars, bass, drums and fundamental elements,
the organ and piano, TWG deliver an altogether more vintage sound with a heartfelt,
well-studied approach to their special brand of music.
Citing bands and artists as eclectic as Love, The Icicle Works, The Smiths, Rufus Wainwright, The Czars,
Bill Withers, TalkTalk, Jeff Buckley, My Morning Jacket, Aretha Franklin, REM, Northern Soul/Motown,
Grant Lee Buffalo and Richard Ashcroft as definite sources of inspiration for the writing; the band stitch together
a tapestry of these colours and styles onto Arscott’s canvas of classic, hook laden, melodious songs.
Not pre occupied by coolness and currentability, TWG appeal to a far wider more discerning audience in love
with its music - lost and waiting to be found, or simply hoping to be lost in something special. With hints of the sixties,
seventies and tasteful parts of the eighties, this band make a relevant noise with some unique, beautiful art.
The band have been together now for over two years but have over thirty years of playing experience between them
during which, their time was spent battling with different kinds of music in different kinds of bands on that all important
journey searching for their calling, their vocation, the place they call home. . . the gospel.

You know the people that say utopia isn't possible have already given up. Living sustainably in balance with our environment and food sources will bring us the freedom to live in harmony, and provide the opportunity for all to excel in their efforts, dreams and life path. Utopia is not only possible but it is the very essence that should guide our dreams and vision for ourselves and with each other. It is the horizon we should all strive for everyone and every nation. Anything short of that will lead us astray.
