Excerpts from The Memphis Lullaby book:
Elvis Aaron Presley: "Sometime in 1972, I wrote this. ‘The philosophy for a happy life: someone to love, something to look forward to, and something to do."
"I guess, all things happen for a reason…something good always comes out of something bad. An’ I know there ain’t no rainbow without rain."
"There’s a meaning, a reason for everything that happens. And dreams…tell us truths that we’ve got to be smart enough to interpret."
"Everyone has a mission in life. The whole idea is to find out what your purpose in life is."
"Silence is the resting place of the soul. It's sacred and necessary for new thoughts to be born."
“You know… there is music in it all…just like a lullaby.”
First there was the book, then the film and now the music...
L.A.M. Productions are proud to announce the release of the debut album, ‘The Memphis Lullaby’ by Linda Ann McConnell under the band name Whitehaven on 16 August 2009, the 14 track album retails on the global digital market. The album features the critically acclaimed songs from the single, ‘The Memphis Lullaby’ and ‘Always.’
Linda Ann McConnell, a Scottish poet, playwright, singer, songwriter, film and music producer. As an artist her work merges music with theatre, poetry, visual art and film in a unique synthesis.
The Memphis Lullaby’ Project - a book, a play, a film and music is based on the iconography of Elvis Presley who had become her primary muse reflecting her fascination with him in her childhood. The book - a play script was published in 2004 and received rave reviews from all over the world including people who lived and worked with Elvis. The film, which she also wrote, directed and produced, is a short documentary entitled “Elvis, How Great Though Art, A Portrait of the Artist.” The Scottish Premiere in August 2006 at the Glasgow Film Theatre in Scotland received a standing ovation. The film was then screened at Cannes and chosen for the 2008 ReelHeart International Film Festival Toronto, Canada. The American Premiere was held at the Playhouse theatre in Memphis in August 2007. Linda Ann composed the soundtrack for the film and recorded the vocals for the song, “The Memphis Lullaby” which accompanied the closing credits. At the Scottish premiere people asked, ‘Who is the singer?” In response, "The Memphis Lullaby single," was released on 8 January 2007 to outstanding reviews from all over the world.
Due to the success of the single, L.A. returned to Tennessee where the album was written and then recorded at Frielance Music Studios in Glasgow, Scotland. The album features a rich textured foundation for L.A.'s poetic lyrics and gentle, sensual, soulful often ethereal vocals. The songs merge from rock to acoustic ballads with southern rock, gospel, country and blues influences. She blends the lines between genres into her own brand of sound.

I said a prayer for you today, And know The Creator must have heard. I felt the answer in my heart, although He spoke no word. I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind. I asked Him to send treasures, of a far more lasting kind. I asked that He'd be near you, at the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings, and friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you, in all things great and small, But it was for His loving care, I prayed for most of all.
Thanks for accepting my friend request. It is an honor to meet you.
