As of November 21, 2008, I became PV2 Jennifer Phares of the United States Army National Guard. At the moment, I couldn't be any happier; even thought I still have a long way to. If it wasn't for these three, wonderful programs I have been in over the past five years; Navy League Cadets (Training Ship Meadowbrooke, US Civil Air Patrol (MER-NC-805 Elizabeth City Composite Squadron) and AFJROTC (NC-937); I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I would not have had the encourage to enlist into the US Army National Guard.
I have recently completed my first semester at COA and I am proud to say that I won the Gateway To College Director's Award for oustanding leadership. I still can't believe that I am now a senior in high school and more importantly am about to ship off to Army Basic training come next week. I am a bit nervous but from what I have heard, it's too be expected. In fact I am more likely one of the only kids looking forward to go back to school in the fall. I will be gone a total of ten weeks down in Ft. Jackson, SC.
I am really looking forward to the future because I have so many goals I want to accomplish. Quiet a few of them I plan on tackiling when I arrive home from Basic. One of these goals is to begin purchasing video equipment...all thanks to my dad who ever since I can memeber has loved making movies and taking endless pictures. Speaking of my dad, he is doing very well over in Iraq but, I still can't help but be worried about him.
Anyways that does it for now...I will have ALOT more when I get home from training...and pictures.
