So Matthew Hender and Alison Corbett grew up together in CBS, NL right next to the good ol' Atlantic blue. Alison pretended she was from "town" and thus never ended up playing music with Matt because she spent all her time playing the violin in orchestras and quartets and perfecting her "townie" accent. By a simple twist of fate, they both ended up going to MUN School of Music together and he was her natural choice for a bass player. He was originally playing double bass but decided to rock it out with his new Rickenbacker. When Alison asked Matt to play in her band, she already had a guitar player. Dr. George Robertson, whom Alison knew from Glenn Nuotio's band, agreed to make some noise on a guitar while the rest of the band played Alison's songs.
:) He's a mysterious fella, and he claims to have a degree from Oxford and he owns a sitar. So this brings us to the drummer, Michael Arbou. Alison met him on the street one day, found out he was a drummer and promptly snapped him up. This is how Alison chooses all of her drummers. No. Really. It's the truth. Just ask her. Preferably at one of the White Tara shows you will be checking out soon! Right?
So, in terms of music, there are no more copies of the first demo. We are recording more things in the near future, so stay tuned!
But in the meantime, if you ever get bored, you should try saying the White Tara mantra:
Om Tare Tuttare Ture Mama Ayuh Punya Jñana Pustim Kuru Svaha
It'll bring balance to your life. Or just freak people out. Whichever. **UPDATE** In March 2007, the band composed and recorded original music for Beothuck Street Players' production of Sam Shepard's 'Buried Child' (see www.beothuckstreetplayers.org ). The main theme is based on our interpretation of a traditional spiritual called 'My Time Ain't Long', which is included here among our songs, and our soundtrack for the play won the OZ-FM award for excellence in sound at the 2007 Provincial Drama Festival in Stephenville.
Bonjour there everypeoples.
Since you don't have your stuff set to downloadable here, is there any sort of backdoor route I can take to getting WT tracks?
I want to play one on the Mt. A station this week.
Woo, radio play.
btw, a belated great show on Dec. 15.
/Liam out.
killer show tonight.
hope you like the pictures that I took.
you looked some pretty in that prom dress al, I was waiting for someone to pull a "carrie" on you. but I guess that wouldn't have been very nice. it would have been a wicked theatrical stage moment though, but maybe too much work setting up the pigs blood and pyrotechnics and firehoses. ah well, happy halloween.
Hey Alison! It was lovely to meet you on Saturday at the Tranzac in Toronto! Thanks for all of your kind words. You are one of the sweetest and cutest people around! Wow! I love the tracks you have posted here. They're strange and great. Would love to hear more sometime soon!
