Maman is the person who made me a singer.
Detroit is the city that made me a musician.

REVIEWS:
"Genevieve Marentette (who's also known for recording with Recloose who have been featured on !K7, Eskimo Recordings, WMF, Peacefrog, Mole Listening Pearls, and Cocoon Recordings compilations ) is definitely the best of the bunch and is heard on 3 of the finest cuts including the set opening Mess I Made, Split Me Open, and Ascension... she definitely has the pipes to fill a Theo Parrish song." - Review of 'Natural Aspirations' (2004), www.gullbuy.com
"The strength of Hiatus lies in collaborations with Chapman, vocalist Genevieve Marentette and an immensely talented cadre of Wellington musicians… the exceptional musicianship makes it worth adding to your collection." - Review of ‘Hiatus on the Horizon”, XLR8R magazine. Emmerald, Oct. 1/05
"... with two fantastic vocal performances from Justin Chapman and Genevieve Marentette, which will be welcome balm to anyone fond of Rosin Murphy, Dani Siciliano or Galia Durant."
- Review of ‘Hiatus on the Horizon” (2005), www.boomkat.com
"With vocal help from singer-songwriter Genevieve Marentette, Trommer‘s "Orange-Grey" and "Somnambule" are reminscent of Carl Craig and vocalist Sarah Gregory‘s take on the classic "As Time Goes By." Fans of Derrick May‘s Transmat label and Craig‘s Planet-E label will dig this." - Review of “The Dominical” EP, XLR8R magazine. Scott Edmonds, Nov. 1/05
Thanks for the add! Half Seas Over is a brand new project from acclaimed pianist Elan Mehler and singer-songwriter Adam McBride-Smith. The two colloborated on Mehler's 2009 release, « The After Suite » (hailed by All About Jazz magazine as a « masterpiece with a capital M . ») Mehler and McBride-Smith are back with a new band and a batch of richly cinematic songs that draw as much on folk and rock music as on jazz. Half Seas Over's eponymous debut is due out on May 3rd, 2010 on Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings label.
