Anyone who sees in his own occupation merely a means of earning money degrades it; but he that sees in it a service to mankind ennobles both his labor and himself. - A. Lawrence Lowell

-Air hockey. Real hockey, no, not so much. But air hockey is the game of gods... I can just imagine Apollo & Zeus enthralled in a rousing game of air hockey. Though Apollo would always have to let Zeus win because, well, he's Zeus.
I'm not "hip" or "with it" or whatever the kids say these days... I mainly listen to the oldies and musicals.

About me: I am a self-proclaimed nerd, exceedingly independent, honest, and sarcastic to a fault. However, I would like to become a more motivated, compassionate, eloquent, and courageous individual.
Who I'd like to meet: Charlie Chaplin, Kevyn Aucoin, Conan O'Brien, Lon Chaney, Bryan Fuller, Paula Dean, and Tony Cochran.
Well, I've decided to fly now. A little less fun, but also quite a bit less costly. So I'll just have to lean out the window and wave as I fly overhead. I'm going middle of August. As for what I am going to do? I don't know. I hear there are some pretty neat scrap-booking stores there. Yeah, definitely going for the scrap-booking stores.
Looks like I'll be mossy-ing myself past your little town on my way to Vegas this Summer. Perhaps I'll keep an eye out for it and I won't just pass unknowingly by like I did the last time. You think a city wouldn't be so hard to find out in the desert.
That sounds like a grand idea. And one I frankly already adhere to.
Unfortunately, he doesn't exactly come to my town. But he does go to Austin on 4/5, Tulsa 4/7, and Houston 4/8. A bit away, but close enough to curse myself if I don't make it out to one of the shows.
So if you have ever wanted to see Texas or Oklahoma, I can't think of a better time to do it than that first week of April!
Watched "The Limey" yesterday. Yet another solid recommendation by you. Definitely an interesting style. And I much appreciated all the mispronunciations of Valentine as Valentin in the beginning. I would like to think that was thrown in for all people with surnames the same as mine. Although my favorite mispronunciation of my name is Ivan Valentin. Sounds very KGB-ish.
I was very surprised that he won, I thought the anti-American jokes in that film were why most critics didn't think too much of the film. But very glad he won. Never seen "The Limey". I'm guessing there is an actual good movie by that name and not that awful looking TV show.
Anywho, I've found it coming on TMC and it's set to record Wednesday. I shall view it on Thursday since that's my day off and that's pretty much movie watching day for me.
Well I have already set 1/19 as the date I'm seeing "The Wrestler". Would also like to see "Milk" but may need to wait till it comes out on DVD. Either that or do the cinema by myself, which is something I've thought about doing since the Summer but still not worked up the courage to do. I can't find anyone else interested in seeing it with me, I do live in Texas.
"Hamlet 2" had its funny bits. Fell flat at times. But the end production of "Rock Me Sexy Jesus" is worth watching the movie for.
Thank you for the movie buying tips. Will check those out. Have some I've been meaning to get. Sounds like you got quite a deal on the Chaplin DVD. I actually managed to get your sister to watch one of his films with me as well! One of my greatest feats.
Will you be attempting to catch a viewing of "The Wrestler?" Later on tonight I'll be watching "Hamlet 2." which I believe was filmed somewhere in New Mexico, so I will base all my judgements of your fine state solely on that movie.
Also, one of your kindred told me you found somewhere on the web where one can purchase hard to find DVD's on the cheap. Where can one find this website?
Next week's does look pretty intense with Dexter going all rage like. And I too hope it picks up a bit. Especially since we both like it, it can only be weeks away from getting the chop.
Rita isn't bothering me too much, but she is basically just playing a characature of a pregnant woman. I'm most interested in the Quinn character though, like to see where that's going.
Yes, I have been pleasantly surprised by Dexter, yet again. Wasn't too sure where it was going but like where it's headed. Predicting another season ending killing of someone that "gets him. "
I have pretty much given up on TV because any show I invest any interest in usually goes under. If either Dexter or 24 go under, then I will rip off the satellite dish off of our house. Won't do much good, since Roy would just stick it back up. But it's more about what my actions mean.
I'm telling you, Jean has a lengthy "breaking the forth wall" monologue that may just make the theater a little dusty.
Indeed. He is wrapping up Dead Like Me with a movie next year and glad to see that Arrested Development is getting the same.
I just got back from seeing JCVD. Amazing. Never thought I would ever say that one of the best acting performances I've ever seen came from Jean Claude Van Damme. But, I just said it.
