Whitney B. has been around the music scene since 2001, first as a solo act, then playing for years with super talent Chris Walker on bass, her now husband Mark Szabo on guitar (after starting out as the trio's drummer) and a rotating cast of rock solid drummers, including Shawn Elsbernd (Shawn Elsbernd quartet) and Marvin Hawkins (Marvin Hawkins and the Experience). In 2005, Whitney won a Cincinnati Entertainment award for Singer/Songwriter of the year.
In 2007, bassist/musical soulmate Chris Walker was involved in a serious car accident, which he is currently recovering from. Please visit Friends for Chris Walker here on MySpace to browse through his MANY band projects and hear his masterful playing. He's CityBeat's pick for best bassist in Cincinnati. You can also hear him on the recordings on this page.
Whitney decided that it was time to be quiet for a while, and so she was. In August of 2008, Whitney and Mark began to play shows again as a duo, and can now be found here and there around town and beyond. They imagine they might bring some more musicians in during Chris' recovery... right now though, they just have songs to share and sing, and so the shows are full of songs stripped down to their acoustic hearts.
Recordings are sure to come - for now, have some free music on the mp3 page of whitneyb.com and here. The songs are Whitney B. Band, circa 2002-2007. You can hear the new tunes at live shows, where it's likely you might also find amazing guest musicians. You never know.

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.

“GAME OVER” for Cup & Saucer Café Current mood: melancholy Category: Life
We regret to announce the closing of Cup & Saucer Café after three and a half years in business. Call 513-544-7017 for information on buying the business. It was a good run for a mom & pop business, longer than many expected, especially considering that Marcy had a stroke just one month after we started. We had a lot of nice employees, customers, and entertainers but there were too many factors working against us. Maybe we’ll write a book about it when things calm down, but basically we had too many expenses, not enough income, and way too much stress. Health problems are the primary cause of failure of small business, and we had to bail out before it killed one or both of us. So everybody take care while we do the same. Some day we’ll get back to making Marcy Burgers, presenting great performers and taking photos of them. In the meantime keep in touch. We’d love for you to share your memories of Cup & Saucer and we’d also love to hear about your progress, especially if you got your start on our stage. Please leave comments on our page so everyone can share.
