Hello everyone, The retreat is held in BC.On private property which is located on the Chilliwack River. Its so beautiful and peaceful there on the river with all the trees and wildlife and listening to the river as it flows by. Not to mention the beautiful garden with all its flowers and statuary and memory wall! Words just can't describe this beautiful and serene memorial to our loved ones. Jack and I went to the retreat year before last. We wanted to go last year too, but we were in the midst of relocating to another state. At the retreat we laugh, we cry, we share stories, we talk about our loved ones if we want to. Most of all we enjoy being together with other caring, loving friends that understand. We are free to be ourselves and have a good time without criticism for laughing or crying (whichever we feel like doing at the time). We all enjoy our meals together and some of us help out cooking and cleaning up after. You can go in the river, or fish (if you get your license and bring a pole), or enjoy the hot tub (be sure and rinse your swim suit well first to remove all the soap), or just sit a talk and enjoy the company of friends or anything you want to do. On the very last Saturday we blow up balloons and add the names of our loved ones to be remembered. We all gather and read a portion of the names and who is remembering them and let the balloons fly up into the sky and to heaven. Its so beautiful! And of course tears are shed as we remember all that are no longer on this earth with us. The retreat is absolutely wonderful! Its an extremely fun and uplifting experience with an exceptionally special hostess that's a true joy to be around. Anyone that's able should really try to attend. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. On September 24, 1975 at approx 9:15 PM, Kathryn-Mary Herbert, 11 yrs old from Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada was abducted on her way home from a friends house approx a mile from her home. Authorities believe she was killed that night or the very next day but her decomposed body was not found until November 17, 1975, her skull fractured and her jaw broken. The autopsy was not able to confirm whether she had been sexually assulted or not. Kathryn-Mary's body was found on the grounds of an Indian reservation. Her body had been hidden under a sheet of plywood on the bank of the Fraser River near the cemetery on Matsqui Indian reserve, about 11 kilometres from where she vanished. There was a burned out house on the actual grounds where she was found in the Matsqui area. The prime suspect in this case is a convicted rapist, both before and after. He is now free and has never been charged with the murder of Kathryn-Mary.
