Ron has been a part of the Canadian Music scene as a full time working musician since 1964. He was playing in the Yorkville Village with the Magic Circus and as a drummer with Edward Bear and the Paupers in the 60's, in the early seventies with Tranquillity Base and later on with Buddy And The Boys in Cape Breton Nova Scotia.
Songwriting has always been a part of his contribution to the original music he has performed over the years. In the last fifteen years many of his songs have been recorded and performed on CBC Radio. Ron's unique song writing has produced songs about dogs, people, donkeys and trains as well as some right on political commentaries. Titles like Star Bright And Donkey Brown, Ten Gallon Toque and Will They Let Me Take My Dobro To The War show a person with his eye on what goes on between the lines of peoples lives. These Songs are distributed on tape through his Doggie Bag Music, Tunes To Go.
Ron has been performing with his band The Fabulous Sitting Ducks around Nova Scotia since 1982 . The Train CD "Golden Rocket" is putting him back on the boards and back on track after three years of renewal from a 30 year, been everywhere, musical career. Look out for Heart Shaped Door and Money In The Mail from "Golden Rocket" in your ears.
Here's my drum solo from Magic Circus Reunion 2000 ...
Hi Ron! Great to hear from you. Hope you had a good summer! I start recording for my second record tomorrow, which I'm very excited about. I'll have new music up as it gets going. Hope all is well. Keep in touch!
Thanks for adding the new page. Its an Honor to be in your Friends list...Doc Killian-Veteran-Songwriter of TO OUR TROOPS, REMEMBER OUR VETERANS and MY FLAG
Thanks for the note Ron. Always great to hear from you. Best of health and luck to you and Carlene in the coming year. That Gideon is still the one I use... Hope to see you this summer!
PS...google/youtube Ron Paul, if you haven't come across him already.
Hi there! Haven't seen you for a long time..hope you are still busy with music. Still think of the Maude Lewis festival in Digby. Your kind words gave me a real push down a new set of tracks and it's a great ride! Thanks.
Howdy Ron, Too long no see! Saw you on Ryan Cook's comments He rocked George's Roadhouse in Sackville where I'm now living last weekend How do you know him?
Think I'll go down to the Save Easy and get me some New Brunswick sardines, unless they have some Brunswicks, of course.
Anyways, take care...When I get a better car I'll come to see you two again. This time with Isabel!
Hi Ron, Thanks for adding me. I used to talk to you when you were busking in front of the Brunswick House back in the 80s. I still have a 45 of "Jimmy Flynn - the half million dollar man" kicking around somewhere. It's great that you're still at it. I enjoyed "New Brunswick Sardines" and "Money In The Mail". All the best.
Howdy Ron, Thanks for the invite. I'm currently in Shreveport, La working the casino circuit. I bet the weather is nice up there this time of year. Maybe I'll get smart one summer and head to Canada. Jam on! Rocky
