About me:

Myebook - Bombsite 16 eZine - click here to open my ebook Bombsite fanzine has been around since 1977, and today we promote 77 Garage Punk with interviews and stories in a monthly eZine at http://www.myebook.com/bombsite1977/ click through the eZine link on my page to read our latest issue. ____________________________________________________________ Bombsite was first published to support the youth movement as it migrated from London to Britain's North. If you visited Probe records or Eric's in 1977, you most likely read a copy of Bombsite. The fanzine ran for about a year, and during this time Mark H (aka Rip] started beating on Drums, Martin C (aka Al Bum)broke guitar strings, Colin G (aka Grom)thumped his Bass and Clif I (aka Cookie)found a voice. The band originally named Bombsite and later changed to "Why Control" was regularly practicing and playing venues around NW England. As Eric’s Club regulars, the group would avoid the art crowd and believed punk rock was about breaking down walls with raw energy, loud amps and broken speakers. The idea of a record deal or signing to a label contradicted the origins of their ideology. "Why Control" were not interested in selling out to an establishment that controlled what people listened to, or what they could do. They believed in truth and freedom, and were angry at the state of England during this period. ..
