Whysall Lane started as a solo project for Richard Baluyut. Killing downtime as singer and guitarist for NYC's Versus, Richard walked the plank with his "other" original songs as well as the odd Depeche Mode cover.
Richard moved to San Francisco in 2001 and hooked up with ex-Jawbreaker drummer Adam Pfahler and SPCA Cat Behaviorist Mikel Delgado (on bass, formerly of the Little Deaths and Cinnamon Imperials). During the seventh inning stretch at a Giants/Mets game, they decided to make it a real band.
After selling out countless telephone booths and playing shows with such luminaries as Sleater-Kinney, Mission Of Burma and Imperial Teen, and touring with Jets To Brazil, the band decided to get into the studio and hammer out their set. That was over three years ago. The album is done now. It will be out in February, 2006 on Blackball Records.
Mikel quit the band in late 2006 and Richard is moving back to NYC in May, 2007. So the band as you knew it no longer exists. This does not preclude Richard from continuing Whysall Lane -- it was and still is his side project when he's not rocking with Versus.

Sorry to hear WL has broken up. The CD is fantastic and the show at the Silver Lake Lounge was the best I have seen in years. Reminded me of why I got involved with underground/alternative/indie rock in the first place.
