PRESS RELEASE:7/18/2008;Los Angeles, Ca. Why? Things burn have just released their fifth masterpiece. Long time friends and collabaroters Rj. Vasquez (songwriter/guitar/voice) bass player Paul Raven(Killing Joke/Ministry) and Billy Tsounis (guitarist) have given life to this eclectic project “Your flowers/ My Soul” which mixes ethereal alternative with dark overtones to create a new soulful music avenue that leaves the heart yearning for more.
The 11 song offering captivates the listener out of the gate from the opening notes of it’s pulsing debut single “MEXICO”. Even with half of the lyrics on the album being sung in Spanish, non-Spanish speakers can visualize the mood. Why? Things burn knack for memorable song-craft is undisputable.
This album is the most personal to date for Rj. Paul Raven passed away too young in October 2007.”Your flowers/ my Soul” is about letting go of a true friend and…more than that, a brother. The track “Thank You”, sang with Rj’s unique vocal style and in his native tongue represents being thankful to his friends and remaining honest to himself and to all who have surrounded him in the past few years and thus bringing it all together with a twist of fate in which life and death have come together in a nicely wrapped gesture. You cannot fake fate.
