Wichita Wingnuts

Wichita's newest baseball team, the Wingnuts, begin their second season at historic Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on May 14, 2009. The Wingnuts, named by fellow Wichitan Hank Haneberg, placed 2nd out of 252 teams in CNBC.com's best minor league logo contest in 2008. The Wichita Wingnuts compete in the 10 team American Association League. GM Josh Robertson, formerly of the Wranglers, Field Manager Kevin Hooper, former Wichita State Shocker and 8th round draft pick of the Florida Marlins in 1999, and pitching coach Luke Robertson, former major/minor league prospect within the Oakland Athletic's organization, form the managment team for the Wingnuts. Wichita Pro Sports, which also staffs the National Baseball Congress and the Wichita Thunder Hockey Team, will form the front office for Wichita's newest baseball team. Wichita Pro Sports intends to continue its history of family-fun entertainment by providing weekly promotions geared toward all ages. Weekly promotions include Music Mondays, Temperature Tuesdays, Weenie Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays, Special Event Fridays, Fireworks Saturdays, and Family Night Sundays.
