Wicked Miranda is an emerging underground music group from Sydney, Australia, heavily influenced by the worlds of experimental art and film. Siblings Matt Burgess and Sarah Burgess forge dramatic and nightmarish chamber pieces with dark, wailing vocals and dreamy harp melodies, heightened by layers of unhinged, purely improvised string arrangements by violinist Sonja Schebeck. They are all classically trained and have an extensive background in theatre and performance yet they share a fascination with 60s/70s European cult horror films and a love for avant-garde experimentalism, which pervades in their unique sound (recalling the melancholy ballads of such artists as Antony & The Johnsons, Patrick Wolf, Nico and PJ Harvey). Their lyrics infuse the personal with the “fantastique”, drawing from dreams, childhood memories and Australian folklore to explore themes of death, sex, desire, violence, anxiety, madness, perversion and hysteria.
The band is currently planning an elaborate, performance art-influenced live show with producers Mark Della-Libera and Eve Klein to accompany their songs with over-the-top costumes and make-up, crazed ballerinas, burlesque dancers, floating acrobats, surreal set pieces and with a strong multimedia component – essentially bringing to the stage all their insane aesthetic obsessions.

Greetings and salutations to you! Liking what I am seeing and hearing on your myspace. Love goes out to you who put this all together. Very very cool. Great taste and superbly put together. Loads for the ears and the eyes which is what I like. Talking of which we should let you know we have posted new videos for new fusion mixes. Our latest is a killer mix featuring Coldplay and Jennifer Lopez called You Do Clocks Well. We paid a consultant millions to come up with that ingenious title! Millions of salt granules. We cutt up, bash up and smashing around the likes of Coldplay, Kraftwerk, Leona Lewis, Rhianna, Pixies, Gallows and Muse. Our latest mix is Omen Epic ft Prodigy and Faith No More . It can be heard only on the SeX DwArF myspace. One that has also just gone up is a radical combo of ft Prodigy and Beyonce. Rebooted, filtered, animated, shaken, cut, pasted, shown to Beyonce who says oh oh oh oh oh no no , smashed with a great hammer, deconstructed and turned into something cunningly called Naughty Spitfire . A sneak preview is below.
Oh and there's...more fusion mix foolishness on the myspace which is being updated with new tunes and vids regularly. If you want to make any suggestions and leave feedback, please feel free. Thanks for the add and your interest. Love and Peace. SeXDwArF. And remember...don't do genre. It's stereotype by another name.
Yes, it is (soft drink) me Your music is so dreamy I found myself doing a naked wall slapping dance! Oh Matt we have so much to share, so much indeed! xx
