Just about any Blues singer you care to think of - and / or - Nothing at all that you've ever heard before.
Based in St Albans. Been around singing Blues'n'Stuff around the periphery for more years than I care to remember. Played in Jazz bands and Skiffle groups in the 50s, on the London and suburban folk scene in the 60s and the St Albans folk scene in the 70s and 80s. Resident singer and co-organiser of The Beehive Folk Club, St Albans 1979-85. Formed Uncle Bob's Blues Band in 1992 with a residency at The Rose & Crown - a scene which evolved into into the long-running Club Mélange which finished at Christmas 2005. Following an unfruitful spell with the A5 Blues Band, went back to playing solo and reviving my old acoustic repertoire. Currenyly out of action AGAIN!!! just as I was beginning to get my life back and getting back into action action after a 6 months enforced layoff, which included an operation, I've got another ulcer come up on my foot. The doc reckons this one should heal up "quite quickly" - whatever that means - so, once again, I'm hoping to get back to normal (normal for me that is) very soon.
As you may or may not be aware SoundARC hold a charity gig every year at Club 85 in Hitchin in aid of the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, and this year we are going to try something a little different from previous years.
This year we are going to take over the club and host 37 acts in one weekend putting full bands upstairs and acoustic acts downstairs in an event that we are calling ARCfest!
It all starts on Friday 4th December at 7pm and then continues on through Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th from 12pm-11pm
As well as raising money for the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, ARCfest will showcase all the different genres of bands that we at SoundARC have come across over the last 4 and a half years. Over this weekend a lot of the acts that you will see don’t get a chance to play a great local venue like Club 85, So as well as hearing new music you will see all manors of genres and styles from acoustic - Metal - Indie - Rock - Punk - Electro - Ska - Funk - Hip Hop/Rap - Alternative - Rhythm & Blues - Reggae - Grunge and loads more that I cant remember!
Hey Bob! Really great to hear your playing again @The Horn tonight. There ain't no such thing as "rusty" blues; I think the correct terminology is "authentic", "traditional" or possibly even "soulful" ... Cheers - Rick.
Hey Uncle Bob, we really enjoyed watching you play, and chatting to you afterwards at the Horn on Sunday. All you're songs are brilliant. Cant wait to see you do it all again.
Nothing Blues is something to me. Love that song. I'm a fan already. Was awesome hearing you play at the horn. Can't wait to see you again. Love n Light
