About me: Wil Roberts was born in Baltimore, MD in December of 1975. He was the oldest of 3 children. Despite having to grow up in one of the worst neighborhoods West Baltimore had to offer, he always had the uncanny ability to bring laughter in the most troubling of times. By age 20 he had graduated from Baltimore City College H.S., done a 2 year stint at Bowie State University, and joined the military.
Throughout his time in the service (and even before), Wil had become known for having jokes and keeping everyone around him in stitches. “It’s kind of how I got through the day. It just so happened that it was how I got through everyday.” At one point in his Navy career, Wil was approached by one of the management team members of the Virginia House of Comedy. “Well one of the guys that I knew from the Virginia House of Comedy asked me to come and meet the owner/manager. I told him that I had never done anything like that before. I was nervous. It was one thing to make people laugh for free, but once someone pays you to make them laugh, that’s a different animal. They want you to make them laugh after they just got evicted, locked up, car towed, and fresh off a child support case. That’s way different than just sitting on the block tripping. He told me that all he wanted me to do was just get on stage and start talking and everything else would fall into place.” Wil never took his friend up on his offer.
After a few years and whole lot more experiences to draw from, Wil found himself in Jacksonville, FL at The Ritz opening up for Lon E Mo of BET Comic View. One of Wil’s friends saw the flyer and set up a meeting with the promoter. After that show, the next time he was on stage, Wil was opening up for famous rapstress Khia at Club Equinox in Savannah, GA.
By 2004 Wil was home from the Navy for good and it didn’t take long for him to find a stage. He performed at Club 347 along side the likes of Baltimore’s own Joe Recca (winner of BET’s Coming to the Stage), Timmy Hall, and Ghost Host. Later Wil became the resident comedian for the spoken word poetry and live jazz night at the Haven. He also performed at The Five Seasons and made numerous appearances at Tee Bee’s Place for their comedy nights. Now under the management of S&G Entertainment, the comedy world expects big things from this world traveler.
Who I'd like to meet: Foxx (RIP),Biggie (RIP), Jay Z (hustlin' purposes), Dame Dash (hustlin' purposes), NAS, Big Daddy Kane (he's an O.G.), Muhammad Ali (the true G.O.A.T.), Russell Simmons (the Godfather), Bernie Mac, Will Ferrell, and more to come. Hopefully I can put my own name on the list oneday.
