After emerging as the lead vocalist, singer and songwriter of DEDOS in 2003, Wilda Mendez has since faced the vast challenges of the Latin Alternative genre. With DEDOS , Wilda gained a lot of exposure and experience on-stage and in the studio as they released their demo in 2004 , of which was followed by many live show opportunities for the band. By 2005, DEDOS’ songs received radio airplay in the Boston and Lawrence markets. The same year, DEDOS was named Best Band of the Year at “Los Premios Circulo Dorado” in Lawrence, MA. Later they produced a music video for their coming single “Pensando En Ti” – though the DEDOS days were short lived, Wilda’s drive, passion and desire to see her dreams through persevered.

With a more intimate approach, today, Wilda presents her talent as a Latin Rock| Alternative | Experimental singer/songwriter, keeping the punchy strums and rhythms of her Dominican –Caribbean roots. Wilda mentions how she “holds eternal gratitude to her country’s untimely blackouts; where in such darkness shined the light of her father’s guitar playing peaking her interest for the craft.”
Today, we hear a fusion of all her influences from Jazz, Folk, Reggae, Funk, R&B, Alternative to Latin vibes in her EP that is in progress with the works of many producers. While her EP is the works, Wilda Mendez gears up to take the stage showcasing her talents in such settings as “The Boston Music Conference” – paving the route towards her future.

A lot can be expected from this young bud blossoming as an independent artist, in the Latin Alternative genre.
