The Frantix started life in approx. 1981. Since those early days, they have been playing intermittently over the years (BRILLO coming out of retirement at least half a dozen times in the last 20 years and falling off the stage on more than one occasion!)
The first line up was: Lead Guitar: BENNY (can't remember his surname!); Double Bass: JOHN WILLOUGHBY; Drums: RAY HEATH; Vocals: ANDY MARTIN. JOHN WILLOUGHBY also played with The Poor Boys and Jet Black Machine.
The band had been going for approx. 6 months when BRILLO got drafted in to do a gig when vocalist, ANDY MARTIN, decided to leave. BRILLO stepped in with no rehearsal and winged it (a practice that he has adopted up to this very day!)
Second line up: Lead Guitar: BOZ BOORER; Rhythm Guitar: PETE TAYLOR; Double Bass: NICK PECK; Drums: RAY HEATH; Vocals: BRILLO
Third line up: Lead Guitar: BOZ BOORER; Rhythm Guitar: PETE TAYLOR; Double Bass: LITTLE ANDY; Drums: RAY HEATH; Vocals: BRILLO
Fourth line up: Lead Guitar: BOZ BOORER; Double Bass: MATT RADFORD; Drums: BRIAN NEVILLE; Vocals: BRILLO
Fifth line up: Lead Guitar: MALCOLM CHAPMAN; Rhythm Guitar: CRAIG SHAW; Double Bass: NEIL SCOTT & MATT RADFORD; Drums: ROGER VAN NIEKIRK & BRIAN NEVILLE; Vocals: BRILLO. The first 5 recordings featured on this page were recorded with this line up (+ MRS BRILLO - THERESA - on vocals for a couple of tracks) at Toerag Studios. These were mixed and produced by BOZ BOORER. 'Stone Killer' and 'Deep Shade of Blue' were both written by Mr. MALCOLM CHAPMAN.
The two new tracks featured on this page - 'Duck Run' and 'No Lovin, No River Blues' are current available on a vinyl 45 from Mr. Steve Willis at Rollin Records!
Current line up for the latest recordings is: Vocals: JERRY BRILL; Guitar: GRAHAM MURPHY; Double Bass: NEIL SCOTT; Drums: ROGER VAN NIEKIRK & the ever-Frantix BOZ BOORER!
