Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, New Orleans: I have been a side man in a number of popular regional bands such as, "The Roadhouse Dogs," "The South Texas All Stars," "The Blues Dragons," "The Skinny's," "The Ice House Kings," and "Kry Wolf."
The best guitarists in the world are from Texas: Kenny Cordray, Rocky Athas, Mark May, Mike Wheeler, Allen Haynes, Skip Devlin, Eric Johnson, The Vaughn Brothers, Johnny Winter, Chris Duarte, Bugs Henderson, Freddy King, Billy Gibbons and Lightnin Hopkins... just to name a few! I have spent years in the shadows, as a side man, and in some instances in a support role to some of these great players. Now I am focused on developing my own name and branded sound with this project, and perhaps be added to this pretigious list!
My playing has in times past been compared to Slash, Billy Gibbons, Leslie West, Michael Schenker, Jeff Beck, Warren Haynes, and even Frank Zappa! That is cool, because those guys are all heroes of mine. Give a listen to the tunes and see if you agree.
The Music is all about the stuff that made me want to pick up a guitar in the first place... Jam, Blues, Psychedelia, Metal, and Funk (and a splash of Coouuntryy,) which is why I call what we do: TexifiedPsychoBluesFunakaliciousMetalbillyMojoDeluxe!
I have assembled a rhythym section "The Mojo Faction," consisting of Jammin Joe Shahda on Bass Guitar, and Slammin Andy Andrus on the skins. These guys are as Gulf Coast Down and Funky as it gets! Also, we have recently added the powerful vocal talent of Ms. Joanna Santana to the show! Joanna is a real live rockin soul blues singer, in the tradition of the SE Texas / Gulf Coast swamp sound! She is Paul Rodgers, Janice Joplin and Robert Plant, all rolled up together! So look out for that! We are extremely excited to have her as a feature of our live performance! We are in pre-production on a record that will be released in the spring (2008.) You can hear a few of the (unfinished) rough mixes on this page!
Nothing gets me off like hearing a Les Paul Standard cranked through a tube head and 4x12 cab (well almost nothing!) This is a great time to be a musician with more access to good (and affordable) studios than ever before, great technology, and great communities.. like MySpace!
Perhaps you will want to ride along with us. We would love to have your support!
Meanwhile, we are going to try and get thrown out of a few bars! Stay Tuned.
Hey Wild Bill!! New pics look great...I've been playing my Tele Partscaster a bunch, good to see we share fondness for the Teles!!! Play one for me, I can't get around smoke anymore. I miss it bad!! Roger
