The Wild Boars were formed in Turin, Italy, in late 2006. Andy Penington, UK musician, singer and songwriter had recorded a solo album entitled “Cheated Hearts”, combining bluegrass and country influences with elements of British and Irish folk, characterised by a slightly harder, “alt. country” attitude.
While recording the album, he met Stefano Raggi from Rome, who was recording his own country blues material at the same studios, and the two soon began to collaborate on each other’s work. When the recordings were done, they figured that they had pretty much used the same guest musicians on their respective material, so they decided to join forces and form a band comprising the aforementioned players.
The Wild Boars were born, and the result was a unique live show ranging from smouldering blues and heart-wrenching country ballads to bluegrass-tinged folk/punk hoedowns, and just about anything else you can think of in between. Indeed, the use of mainly acoustic instruments does nothing to detract from the energy and intensity of the band's live performances.
Since then, the band have taken their show not just throughout the north of Italy but also further afield to Switzerland and Germany. Early 2009 has seen them in the studio working on the first Wild Boars album, and release is planned for late spring.
I Wild Boars nascono a Torino verso la fine del 2006. Andy Penington, musicista e cantautore britannico, aveva registrato un album da solista intitolato “Cheated Hearts”, un disco che abbina influenze country e bluegrass a elementi della musica folk britannica e irlandese, caratterizzato da un atteggiamento che tende verso l'alternative country.
Durante la registrazione, Andy conosce Stefano Raggi, un musicista country blues di Roma che aveva cominciato a registrare alcune sue canzoni negli stessi Bottleneck Studios a Torino. I due cominciano a collaborare, e finite le loro rispettive registrazioni, decidono di unire le forze e fondano un gruppo che comprende gli stessi musicisti che avevano lavorato con loro in studio.
I Wild Boars vantano uno spettacolo unico che spazia dal blues e ballate country spezza-cuore a hoedown folk/punk tinti di bluegrass, e altro ancora. Infatti, l'uso di strumenti prevalentemente acustici nulla toglie all'energia e all'intensità delle performance della band.
Da allora, la band ha presentato il suo spettacolo non soltanto in nord Italia, ma anche oltre i confini nazionali in Svizzera e Germania. L'inizio del 2009 vede la band impegnata in studio a preparare il suo primo album, che dovrebbe uscire in tarda primavera.

I understand that most of you don't speak German and are not able to upload videos because of the language barrier. If you would like me to upload your videos to the German video websites, please let me know.
