THE WILD DEER In NY POST'S "BEST SONGS OF 2007"

The New York Post chose “River of Soul,” from the Wild Deer’s debut CD “Live Free” as one of the “207 Best Songs to Download From 2007”

On Friday, December 28, 2007, along with such good company as Shooter Jennings, Wilco, Patti Smith, Radiohead, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Steve Earle, Amy Winehouse, Robert Plant, Lily Allen, Interpol, Band of Horses, Travis, Shins, New Pornographers, the Bravery, Bright Eyes, John Fogerty, Scissor Sisters, Ben Harper, Eddie Vedder, Jarvis Cocker, Gorillaz, Ben Lee, Crowded House, Iron and Wine, the Frames, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Kanye West, and others, the Post described “River of Soul:”

“These NYC rockers turn one-part Stax Records, one-part Paul Weller and
The Jam into one hard-grooving strut.”

The Wild Deer - Live Free..

"An Awesome Expression of Pure Rock"

"The Wild Deer capture the essence of what pure Rock and Roll is about. Great depth and lyrics to this awesome first album. Its amazing this band hasn't been discovered yet. EVERY song on this CD is awesome. Each song grows on you the more you listen to it. Not to be missed are the backing vocals and some great guitar riffs and solos. A MUST!!!!

—Itunes

THE WILD DEER'S DEBUT CD "LIVE FREE" IS HERE AND AVAILABLE AT CD BABY

album coverTHE WILD DEER: Live Free

The WILD DEER are a new band of old souls with an in-your-face honest, hardworking rock & roll sound, reverberating with the emotion and passion of the Beatles, the Clash, Paul Weller, and the Rolling Stones.

From New York Daily News "Rush and Molloy" gossip pages,
Tuesday May 30 2007-

"Singer-songwriter Ed Fingerling got an instant payback from the karma credit bureau when his band, the Wild Deer, played for the Marines for Fleet Week in Times Square. Director Charles Evered, who was shooting scenes with actor Ethan Peck (grandson of Gregory) nearby, was entranced by the music and decided to include it in his movie, Adopt a Sailor."

You can also read it on the NY Daily News site here.

THE WILD DEER are led by singer, songwriter, and guitarist
Ed Fingerling, who honed his rock songwriting skills as a member of late 1990s NYC pop/punk/roots group Oral Groove, the early 00s NYC rock band Ultrafine, and a solo era (his 2003 eponymous solo release is available on itunes).

The Wild Deer's 11-song debut cd LIVE FREE will be released in January 2007. Produced by Leo Overtoom, known for his work with Ben Folds, it features New York Dolls lead guitarist Steve Conte on the song "Watch Your Step," as well as Felice Rosser of NYC rock band FAITH, who sings on the songs "Like Dragonflies" and "Grass."

Aug 17 2007 6:30 PM

WILD THINGS are loose and ready to jam at Lakeside Lounge this coming Saturday night!
Cozy joint located at 162 Ave B btw 10th & 11th st
A rather unusual gig that began with the idea of a duo performance and ended up with
us picking up a couple of cool cats along the way.
Joining our animalistic rock n' roll dance: Bob on percussions laying down
the tribal beats and Okkon playing a mean sax.
10pm...FREE show...One band...Awesome Jukebox
