Usually, it is the old warriors who wish most for peace!
As a soldier and a tourist, I’ve been to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. I’ve been to ten countries and interacted with other people in these countries from the far corners of the earth. During my travels, it has become obvious to me that we all share more in common with each other than differences. We are truly members of an extended family; the family of our humanity.
When we learn to embrace our commonalities instead of focusing on our differences or entertaining our ignorance, there will be peace. When we learn to respect each other, and help each other during times of need, there will be peace. When we learn to respect each other’s beliefs and customs instead of vying for dominance either through religion, economics, or force of arms, there will be peace.
While we must always hope or even pray for peace, we must always prepare for war. While we cherish life and Liberty, there are those who will not. While we always hope others can accept us for who we are, it is in our ability to wage war if necessary that we force respect for what we can do to them. While one is preferable, either will do. For this soldier, my country and way of life will always come first.
Hobbies:
For my hobbies I like: Exploring the wilderness, backpacking. 4-wheel driving, scuba diving, guitar playing, repelling, and writing. Some damn fool once said the pen is greater than the sword. I think the verdict is still out on that one! :)

I was in a tactical convoy traveling south out of Fort Lewis to Vancouver Washington. On our way back north to Fort Lewis, we stopped at a rest area. There were women selling coffee and pastries for some charity fund raiser event. I was fumbling in my pocket for change when a man I had never met walked up and told me to... "Put your money away soldier, I got it." He paid the dollar I was trying to pay, too much gear! I tried to thank him but he fled away.
I appreciate the gratitude. But how many others deserve our gratitude? What is Liberty? Who protects it? Who defends it?
My heroes are the firefighters who risk their lives to enter a burning building and save another human being! My heroes are the EMT's that rush to an auto accident and pull a dying child from the backseat of automobile with a dead driver, crushed and smelling of alcohol! My heroes are the emergency room personnel who have to deal with yet another gang related victim with a gunshot wound! My heroes are the two cops who lost their lives racing down Snake River Canyon in Colorado to warn people that the dam had broken and their lives were in peril! My heroes are the cops who entered the twin towers on 9-11 to evacuate the innocent!
How many people offer to pay for coffee for my heroes?

I am a third generation American soldier of Irish descent. I’m proud of my heritage and of my country. I am a conservative. This means I believe we are who we are because of where we came from. Our success is because of what we have done in the past, not because of what some want to do in the future.
I am not pacified, believing others will love us if we simply turn the other cheek and refuse to cast blame. I am a realist. I know others wish to harm us simply because we are. I cannot imagine my aging mother guarding her home with a lethal weapon. This task falls to the younger and willing, those of us willing to defend our homes against intractable enemies. It falls to those of us willing to sacrifice, everything if necessary.
Everyone born into this world will certainly die. We may die in our sleep standing for nothing, or we may die on a battlefield standing for something! It is not my wish to willfully give up my life. But if I must die, how much better to die for something greater than one’s self? How many grave markers have you passed by and thought nothing of it? All the engineers and doctors and teachers? All those that worked in a factory or maned a desk? But, walk through Arlington National Cemetery and there are no doubts. Look at all those brave souls who perished on a battlefield foreign and domestic. Look at all those that died for something greater than themselves. Look at all those that died for an ideal, “Give me Liberty, or give me death!” The voices present are hushed. The certain knowledge permeating their consciousness that these, the fallen, gave their lives for everyone else to live their own lives in equality and freedom and without fear.
It brings me great anguish to know that some of my fellow citizens are so eager to trade this all away for the price of a bowl of porridge! That they are so willing to give away their birthright without a single shot fired. But, this is not a political profile. I’ve taken this profile neutral in order to celebrate our humanity, and the human condition. Just as my father always told me, life is a struggle and no one (conservative) promised it would be easy or even fair. But, it is a life. It’s the best life our humanity has ever come up with. It is this life that I will defend, even ‘till death. God bless America! God save our liberty!

Never on the history of God's green earth has there been a greater warrior than the men and women in the U.S. armed forces. Now i'm a big ol' guy but recently i was at a Wal-Mart and i seen a marine coming down the isle, i stood and thanked him for his service but i couldn't do it without crying like a baby. And this is the way i'd react to every one of you who've protected my country and my family for many years. All i can say here is not worthy to express what i feel inside for the sacrifice that you've made, but THANK YOU...YOU'RE MY HEROES, I LOVE YOU & GOD BLESS YOU!
We have our flag at half-staff, in memory of all those that have lost their lives eight years ago today. May we never forget and remember the families and our brave uniformed, and military still fighting today. issue of Pelosi and her lies and how the Democrat Party politicized the
issue of our national security.
