I love the prairie... watching the storms roll in across the plains, the way the grasses look when they are blowing in the wind, the tiny forest of trees that grows near the river, the birds that ride on my back. This is the most beautiful life I can imagine.

About me: I am a stud. Literally. A male, twelve year old, one ton buffalo living on the Wild Idea Buffalo Ranch in western South Dakota. The humans here are using my family and I to raise sustainable, organic buffalo and reclaim the barren prairie land. I have a wonderful life here. My family and I are free roaming, grass fed (it's like eating "gourmet organic")and raised without antibiotics, hormones or stimulants. We live the way our ancestors had for hundreds of years before our family herds were hunted nearly out of existence. We drink from the beautiful free flowing Cheyenne River, not from a metal trough full of standing water. We eat right off the prairie grasses, not out of feeder lots. We reproduce as nature intended. I fight for my ladies and I father many calves because I am the largest and most powerful male on the ranch, a position I have earned and will not give up easily.
The Ranch I live on has a website,(www.wildideabuffalo.com) I encourage you to check it out, its recently received a face lift and includes lots of great ways to stay informed on the efforts to restore the great plains as well as promote sustainability and the humane treatment of my species.
Yet another reason to get "connected" to your food. Know what your dollar is supporting. Go an extra step to find local, small farm, sustainable food. Like www.wildideabuffalo.com/whygrassfed.html
Well... I am doing a lot of updating my computer! Today I am knocking an inch of ice off my car. It started early Tues. morning when it got warm enough to rain on top of the snow already on the ground. Buffalo Gal and I can get around now, but it was a mess at first. But we had a tough couple days. I bet your cousins at her ranch are having a blast! It is a good thing you do Curly. Keep on educating as many people as possible. Sometimes we are so caught up in ourselves, we forget to look around like you do. Take care friend.
Hey Curly!!! I live about 30 miles away from Buffalo Gal!!! We have mutual acquaintances my friend. You wouldn't have any trouble getting through the snow and ice to get your food??
Hey Curly love the new page... Can't wait to check, the Wild Idea Buffalo Ranch website, and thanks so much for the tips every day,Helps me to be aware of what we as humans need to change..Thanks again Curly,Have a beautiful day...
