About me: Hello, and I am the Wild Scotsman of Wild Scotsman Whisky and Spirits Limited. What? You have never heard of me? Well, that's probably due to the fact that I am the smallest independant bottler of Scotch Whisky. I am also the only American living in the USA who both produces and bottles Scotch Malt Whisky in Scotland under my own label, Wild Scotsman.
I learned to Distill originally at the Bladnoch Distillery in Scotland in 2002. It was at Bladnoch that I met my mentor John McDougall who is the only person alive to be both a "Master Distiller" and "Master Blender" of Scotch Whisky. John has been involved with over 20 different distilleries which has taken him to every region of Scotland (Laphroaig, Springbank, Balvenie, and Glenlivet to name a few). Together John and I each have our own brands, however, we appear in public as "The Wild Scotchmen (trademarked)" in whisky shows like Whisky Fest, Whisky Live, and others.
The biggest thing I have learned from John is to produce Scotch Malt Whisky that "tastes and smells" like Scotch Malt Whisky. Our brands like many brands Independantly bottled and/or distilled are not "Chill-Filtered" or have "artificial colouring" such as "spirit caramel" added. The Wild Scotsman Vatted Scotch malts and single casks are all bottled at 46%. John McDougall's Selection Bladnoch and Single Cask Series are all bottled at "cask strength" which can range from 100p to 120 proof.
In addition to my Scotch production, bottling, blending, and appearences I write for a magazine called, Cincinnati Gentleman. A cross between maxim and GQ this magazine covers the local tri-state area of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Every other month you can get my top picks for the spirits of the season.
