Original Aussie Country/Country Rock...WildSeed pride themselves on their live performances. Even after a successful album, four singles and two videos, performing for their ever- increasing fan base is what WildSeed enjoy the most. Their original material has a unique Australian flavour yet still maintains the drive and power that excites their audience at festivals and venues around the country.
Pivotal to the evolution of WildSeed is songwriter and bassist Alan Bruce. Alan had originally been signed to publishers Essex Music (now Warner/Chappell) during the mid to late 80's. He developed his craft for the country song during a stint with an acoustic ensemble that later became the trio "Strum". Meanwhile drummer/harmonica player, Geoff Zenner was temporarily drawn away from the drum seat by lucrative offers of live and studio work as a harmonica player.
"I felt that most of my songs would be best conveyed by a female voice", Alan said, "I was delighted when Geoff's wife Didy Zenner (pronounced Die-Dee), agreed to sing a few demo tracks for me." The "seed" was well and truly planted and it was only a matter of time before Geoff would be seated behind the drum kit again.
The final stage of "germination" came with the addition of guitarist Dave Bull. As if by some lucky quirk of fate, Dave (Didy's nephew) had decided to move back to Sydney after living in far North Queensland for about a year. Almost straight away WildSeed started work on their debut album in the studio that Geoff had just finished building.
WildSeed are about the "sum of their parts". "We never wanted to be perceived as a singer and her backing band" Alan stated. "It's so gratifying when punters comment on the magic they sense coming from the stage".
Since the completion of their self-titled debut album early last year, WildSeed have released five singles so far. The band's current single, Picture Your Smile is available as an mp3 download (see link). Music videos have also been filmed to accompany tracks The Fire and Don't Lie To Me. Both videos have enjoyed extensive airplay on Foxtel's/Austar's Country Music Channel as well as spending considerable time in the Top 50 Charts.
At this year's Tamworth Festival, WildSeed secured 3 Top 5 finalist positions in the People's Choice Awards for Best Group, Best Album and Best Song (The Fire). They were also Top 5 Finalists in the Tamworth Independent Artist Recognition Awards (TIARA's) for best Group.
The recent amicable departure of Dave Bull in early 2007 resulted in an exhaustive search for a suitable replacement. The subsequent series of auditions finally attracted the talents of hot session player, Andrew Parker. "We feel very fortunate to have been approached by Andrew who is already proving to fill some huge shoes". Didy, Geoff, Alan and Andrew are currently in the process of arranging new songs in preparation for their second album.............
