THE AUTUMN DEFENSE (two members of WILCO) + PLUSH (Liam Hayes) Sunday 7th September @ Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff
The Autumn Defense is a collaboration between Wilco/Uncle Tupelo bassist John Stirratt and Wilco multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone who has also produced records for the likes of Andrew Bird and Joseph Arthur. They have released 3 albums of beautifully arranged, organic, wispy folk-rock and singer-songwriter musings.
"Comfort music for the soul...” UNCUT **** "never less than utterly gorgeous" THE WORD "reference points include Nick Drake and CSN, Bread, Big Star and the essence of Love, Steely Dan and a dozen others" MOJO **** "edifying and beautifully textured" DAILY MIRROR **** "soft rock at it's most elegant." TIME OUT "Soft, dreamy and bittersweet” WASHINGTON POST "Warming, gorgeous and delightful” DAVID FRICKE, SENIOR EDITOR, ROLLING STONE

'TRIPPING IN THE COUNTRY' 1st Birthday Party (Free Champagne for early birds) @ Bardens Boudoir, Cosmic Ladies Night: Featuring: Mary Epworth & The Jubilee Band Gemma Ray Brigid Power-Ryce +Guest DJ: 'Spooky Lady's Sideshow'
Hi folks. The bombardment begins! We have five shows this month, the first of which is mighty exciting!
Supporting his new Asthmatic Kitty LP ’In The Vines’ Raymond Raposa stops by for one of only six UK shows. His wonderful songwriting is awash with trippy electronics and lazy country licks. Twisted country Grandaddy possibly? I dunno, bloody good though! Assisting on the album are a wealth of talented musicians including members of the wonderful Phosphorescent, Jana Hunter and Sufjan Stevens.
Supports are great too.
York ain't so far away! 10 minutes from the station.
Please Please You presents Castanets, Fishing Partners + Red Trees. The Basement, York, Thurs. 8th May, 8pm. £6adv.
One of only five UK shows on his 'Paisley Dreams' tour The Basement are very proud to have Steve Wynn playing on Friday.
Performing with Robert Lloyd (Willard Grant/John Wesley Harding) he has a great catalog of songs from previous bands The Dream Syndicate and The Miracle Three to a new record recently finished with Chris Eckman (Walkabouts).
With Boss Caine in support this should be a mighty fine night. Cheers, Joe.
