It was a love of Radiohead, New Order and a friend’s homemade Pulp Fiction spoofs that brought the band together, so pop music was not exactly what Wilfred Jackal had expected to make when they first picked up their instruments.
Friends from childhood, the band begun in high school cutting their teeth on material from Queen to Babyshambles to Alice Cooper and even the Beastie Boys…It was not until a lineup change in 2008 with the inclusion of long time friends Jamie and Andy that led to a sharper focus in the band on creating a catchy but meaningful sound.
In the time since, their sound and presence has grown and matured into what they now like to describe as ‘Dino-Pop’ - Sing-a-long melodies over a stomping beat to get your groove on. Wilfred are committed to their crafting, and to putting on some super-boogie live shows. Hope to see you soon….
Wilfred Jackal have just been announced as 'Unsigned Artist of the Week' for Sydney Radio Station FBi 94.5 for the week starting tuesday 9th June. So if you're around tune in to hear 'What Is' doing the rounds
"What Is (And Will Never Be) is one of the sweetest power pop tunes of the year so far...but even their weaker songs are considerably further ahead of the pop eight-ball than the fun socks brigade"
