About me:
Willamette Valley Norml Official Page

NORML is a nonprofit, public-interest lobby that for more than 30 years has provided a voice for those Americans who oppose marijuana prohibition. We represent the interests of the tens of millions of Americans who smoke marijuana responsibly and believe the recreational and medicinal use of marijuana should no longer be a crime.

NORML supports the removal of all criminal penalties for the private possession and responsible use of marijuana by adults, including the cultivation for personal use, and the casual nonprofit transfers of small amounts. This model, similar to that recommended to Congress by President Nixon's esteemed Shafer Commission in 1972, is called "decriminalization."

NORML additionally supports the development of a legally controlled market for marijuana, where consumers could purchase it from a safe, legal and regulated source. This model is referred to as "legalization."

NORML believes that marijuana smoking is not for kids and should only be used responsibly by adults. As with alcohol consumption, it must never be an excuse for misconduct or other bad behavior. Driving or operating heavy equipment while impaired from marijuana should be prohibited.

NORML strongly supports the right of patients to use marijuana as a medicine when their physician recommends it to relieve pain and suffering. NORML has advocated for the legal use of medicinal marijuana since 1972.

Lastly, NORML supports the right of farmers to commercially cultivate the non-psychoactive strain of cannabis known as hemp for industrial purposes, such as food and fiber production

“I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?”
-Willie Nelson

“Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn't the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit . . . unnatural?”
-Bill Hicks

“Even if one takes every reefer madness allegation of the prohibitionists at face value, marijuana prohibition has done far more harm to far more people than marijuana ever could.”
-William F. Buckley, Jr.

"We did not view marijuana as a significant health problem--as it was not....Nobody dies from marijuana. Marijuana smoking, in fact, if one wants to be honest, is a source of pleasure and amusement to countless millions of people in America, and it continues to be that way."
-Peter Bourne, President Carter's Drug Czar

"There are no long lasting ill-effects from the acute use of marijuana and no fatalities have ever been recorded ... there seems to be growing agreement within the medical community, at least, that marijuana does not directly cause criminal behaviour, juvenile delinquency, sexual excitement, or addiction."
-Dr J. H. Jaffe
The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics. L.Goodman and A Gillman, 3rd edn. 1965

"Make the most of hemp seed. Sow it everywhere"
-George Washington

Ten DANK things you can do to help legalize marijuana (in no particular order).

1. Write a letter to a policy maker. This can be local, state or federal level-if we all take the time to do this it makes a huge difference. Take a few minutes to an hour to draft a letter-then once a week take five minutes-send it to a different official, when there is a bill related to marijuana you will have a good base.
DANK recommends using a government website or visiting http://www.makepotlegal555.org to find address information for legislators.

2. Encourage others to write their legislators-each time you write to one, pass the name and address around to your like minded friends-get them writing in, too.

3. Volunteer for a Pro-Cannabis event! Look on online, maybe there is one in your area-there are several on the DANKinfo website and at least once volunteer for Seattle Hempfest-you will be impacted in unimaginable ways.
For more info: http://hempfest.org/drupal/Volunteers

4. Attend a Pro-Cannabis event! Bring your friends and family members-especially those that would like to be better educated on the drug war and related issues. See the DANKinfo website for a list and once again, I must say (maybe I am biased) at least once in your life attend Seattle Hempfest-the third week of August.
See http://www.hempfest.org/drupal for more info.
Another good choice is the Global Marijuana March (www.globalmarijuanamarch.org).
Check the website for it-there is likely a march planned near you—if not see #9

5.
Support organizations such as LEAP, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (http://www.leap.cc/cms/index.php), where the proponents of changing the law are those whom have enforced it and seen the failures first hand. Methods of support include donating, volunteering, passing out fliers, attending events, passing on info, re-posting MySpace bulletins, etc.

6.
Donate money to those organizations who are influencing policy change-great examples are NORML (www.norml.org),

Hi. Concentrated cannabis hemp oil (Indian hemp, ganja, dagga, marijuana) can cure cancer and many other serious illnesses. Please watch Rick Simpson's "Run from the Cure" at http://www. phoenixtearsmovie. com. Please read my book "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" online free at http://www. jackherer. com. It is all about the history and many uses of cannabis hemp.
We can end hunger, cure cancer and reverse the Greenhouse Effect with cannabis hemp!

Thank you for being a friend!

Please take a serious look at our profile-read some of our latest blogs...the prison system is being used in an unjust way. Prisoner populations are growing at an alarming rate and the American Correctional Association is lobbying constantly for less freedom, more profits. Founded in 1870, the ACA is a huge lobbying power in Washington D.C. This year New Orleans will be host to the 138th Annual (get this) "Congress" of Corrections. I am trying to form a protest against this. There are many problems with the US Economy that can be fixed by ending the control of the Prisons over the People.
There is a major market in the US for cheap labor, and we have increasingly turned to prisoners, many of whom are working in prisons owned by the corporation they are working for...
More than half of the prison population is there for non-violent crimes. I am NOT advocating drug use, however, it is not the responsibility of the government to say what we do in our homes at this level.
Current drug law practices and the lobbying efforts and past successes of the ACA have destroyed countless families, lives, and lives' works-many while I typed this note.
I have very few contacts in your area and would appreciate any support you can lend to the effort described in our blog.
Check out the links on our page, drop a line, tell us what you think, tell your friends to check us out--even if you are down with the cause...educate as many people as possible...
May God Bless you and yours with Peace, Love and Harmony,
Glo

Hi! I just wanted to invite you to my first show opening in Eugene in years starting Friday, July 6th at the New Odyssey (10th & Willamette). 3-D giclees, live ambidextrous art and colorful people should make it pretty fun!

Synchronistically, Eugene'll be having an even more psychedelic evening because at the Fenario (about 1.5 blocks away) will be an art show for the old school master of visionary art, Robert Venosa! (venosa.com)
