Obama Gaff Machine

In the time since Barack Obama has become our President, he and his administration have become a non-stop Gaff Machine. You know that George Bush was constantly painted as an idiot by the media, Hollywood and other Democrats, but we were supposed to be past all that with President Obama. Since it appears that the Gaff Machine is going to be a constant factor over the next four years, I have decided to try to keep a running total of all the stupid things he and his administration have said and done during his term. As you read this list, ask yourself if George W. Bush would be treated the same way by the media if it were his administration that was making these mistakes.

January 20, 2009 to present
Obama keeps nominating tax cheats to his administration. So far the running total is:
Timothy Geitner - Treasury Secretary - failed to pay taxes
Nancy Killefer - withdrew from consideration over tax problems
Tom Daschle - withdrew from consideration over tax problems
Ron Kirk - withdrew from consideration over tax problems
Patti Solis Doyle - more tax problems
It seems to me that Joe The Plumber was more fully vetted by the media than President Obama or anyone in his administration has been.

This one is great because it qualifies as both a gaff and an example of hypocrisy. At a town hall meeting in Elkhart, Ind. President Obama said to executives from companies receiving bailout money "You can't get corporate jets; you can't go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayer's dime". Now, on the surface, this sounds reasonable because companies that are taking bailout money should be using that money to strengthen their businesses, not to party. The problem is that President Obama specifically targeted an American city - Las Vegas, whose primary source of revenue is tourism dollars. The implication here is that Las Vegas is somehow less deserving of tourism dollars and that it would have been OK for companies to spend their tax dollars somewhere like Seattle, Wa. Now, here comes the hypocrisy. Four days earlier on February 4th, Vice President secretly met with union members from the AFL-CIO at a posh 5-Star hotel in Miami, Fl. to discuss the Card Check legislation working its way through Congress which is designed to end the secret ballot and sign up more union members. The media was banned from covering this event; both because of the topic discussed, but also because it apparently is OK for unions to go party in Florida on the taxpayer’s dime.
Now, do you remember how outraged the media was when Vice President Dick Cheney met secretly (he at least had the good sense to hold these meeting in Washington DC, rather than jetting off to some exotic location) with energy companies in order to discuss our future energy policy? Somehow it is completely unacceptable for Republicans to meet secretly and discuss policy with energy company executives because they make campaign contributions almost exclusively to Republican candidates, but no one bats an eye when Democrats meet secretly with union members when unions make campaign contributions almost exclusively to Democrat candidates.
And Democrats are still incredulous when Republicans express concern about a liberal bias in the media.

President Barack Obama gave a speech at Caterpillar World Headquarters in East Peoria, Illinois and said the following "Yesterday Jim, the head of Caterpillar said that if Congress passes our plan (the stimulus bill) this company will be able to rehire some of the folks who were just laid off. And that’s a story I’m confident will be repeated at companies across the country." Moments later Jim Owens, the CEO of Caterpillar contradicted President Obama by saying "I think realistically, no, the honest reality is we’ll probably have more lay-offs before we start rehiring again!" On March 17, 2009, Caterpillar laid off an additional 2,500 employees from the US on top of the 22,000 jobs lost world wide. This was probably more of a lie than a gaff however, because President Obama put words into the mouth of the CEO of Caterpillar that he knew were not true. [link]

Vice President Joe Biden was giving a press conference about the government’s new website for tracking stimulus spending (www.recovery.com). When a CBS reporter asked the Vice President for the web address, he forgot it and asked an aid who was off camera if he "knew the website number". As a news flash to the Vice President, websites don't have numbers that have url's (Uniform Resource Locator). Now I agree that this might seem like a tiny thing to nitpick about, but does anyone remember when George H.W. Bush was filmed in a grocery store and was amazed by the supermarket barcode scanner? This was evidence for weeks on end that the President was stupid and so out of touch with modern technology. Is this incident really any different? [link]

March 6, 2009Reset Peregruzka Button
Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton makes an official visit to Russia. During this visit, she presents the Russian Prime Minister with a red button with the word "Reset" printed in English, supposedly meaning that the US wishes to reset its relationship with Russia. The problem is that also printed on the button was the Russian word "Peregruzka". Peregruzka, roughly translated means "Overcharged" not "Reset". I guess no one over at the State Department speaks Russian. I would have thought that at least Hillary could have done that!

President Obama receives a visit from America's greatest ally, Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of Great Britain. As is customary, Obama and Brown exchanged gifts with each other. Prime Minister Brown gave President Obama an ornamental pen holder made from the timbers of the Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet, a framed commission for HMS Resolute and a first edition of the seven-volume biography of Churchill by Sir Martin Gilbert. The Prime Minister also gave gifts to President Obama's children including an outfit each from Topshop and six children's books by British authors which are shortly to be published in America. In return, President Obama presented Prime Minister Brown with 25 DVD's including The Wizard Of Oz, ET: the Extra-terrestrial and Psycho (all of which were Region 1 encoded so they won't even play on Great Britain's Region 2 DVD players). In addition, President Obama gave Prime Minister Brown two models of the presidential helicopter, Marine One, to take home to his sons Fraser and John. To add insult to injury, President Obama returned a bust of Winston Churchill which Great Britain presented to President Bush after 9/11 as a sign of solidarity and friendship. But when British officials offered to let President Obama to hang onto the bust for another four years, the White House said: "Thanks, but no thanks."

March 9, 2009
President Obama has expressed a desire to open talks with moderate voices in the Taliban. You remember the Taliban, don't you? Those are the guys who protected Al-Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden who attacked us on Sept. 11, 2001. It's funny (or sad depending on your perspective) that President Obama will talk to the Taliban but is unwilling to sit down and talk to his own countrymen because they have a political view than he does not share.

March 14, 2009
President Obama, Christopher Dodd (Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee) and Tim Geitner (Treasury Secretary) begin obsessing about the fact that AIG, a company that received about $170 billion in taxpayer bailout money plans to grant $165 million worth of merit bonuses to its executives. The problem here is not that the bonuses are being given; I agree that companies who are receiving taxpayer bailout money in order to survive should not be rewarding themselves for their failures. The problem is the feigned outrage from President Obama and his administration. You see, the bonuses were a contractual obligation at AIG made more than a year ago; an obligation that Dodd, Geitner and probably Obama knew about months ago. You see; the 1100 page stimulus bill which was written by Tim Geitner and pushed through the Congress and Senate before anyone had the chance to read it contained a provision allowing for AIG to grant these bonuses to their executives. Obama, Dodd and Geitner are now blaming each other or unnamed individuals in the Congress for adding this stipulation into the stimulus bill each claiming that they were unaware of its existence. On March 20, 2009 further evidence of knowledge of these bonuses was revealed when a series of e-mails between AIG and Obama’s Treasury officials were released discussing the issue. The e-mails; dated November 5th, 2008 stated that the "bonuses are needed to recruit and retain key employees" and after much discussion, government officials eventually decided to restrict compensation at AIG to just the top 75 company executives. For the record, I feel that this whole made up scandal is just s smoke screen for the real scandal; the fact that our government throwing money around wildly attempting to correct a problem that it doesn’t understand. Bailing out companies (both inside and outside of the US) with no accountability of where the money goes or how it is spent is the real scandal. For the record, $165 million is 0.097% of the $170 billion in taxpayer money given to AIG in the bailout, 0.021% of the $787 billion in taxpayer money the government spent on the Stimulus bill and 0.017% of the $1 trillion the government printed and loaned to itself on March 18th 2009. We need a little prospective on this! [link]

March 19, 2009
Appearing on "The Tonight Show," the president told host Jay Leno he'd been practicing at the White House's bowling alley but wasn't happy with his score of 129. The he rolled a gutter ball by quipping: "It was like the Special Olympics or something." Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton told reporters traveling with Obama that the president's offhand remark was not meant to disparage the Special Olympics, only to poke some fun at the commander-in-chief's bowling skills.
Now think about this; if a Republican has said something 1/10th as bad, it would have been front page news for weeks on end and there would be non-stop drum beat from the media calling for that politician to resign. Remember the outrage when Republican George Allen said "Macaca"? Allen lost an election because of that slip of the tongue but everyone is tripping over themselves making excuses for Obama and his slip of the tongue. At least everyone knows what Obama's insult means and that it was an insult. Who had ever heard of the word macaca before George Allen? [link]

March 21, 2009
According to a report, while recently attending the Gridiron Club dinner in Washington, an annual event where powerful politicians and media elite get a chance to cozy up to one another, Biden told his dinnermates about the existence of a secret bunker under the old U.S. Naval Observatory, which is now the home of the vice president.
The bunker is believed to be the secure, undisclosed location former Vice President Dick Cheney remained under protection in secret after the 9/11 attacks.
According to the report, Biden "said a young naval officer giving him a tour of the residence showed him the hideaway, which is behind a massive steel door secured by an elaborate lock with a narrow connecting hallway lined with shelves filled with communications equipment."
Way to go Joe, part of the purpose of having a secret bunker is to allow the Vice President a safe place to hide in time of attack in order to preserve the chain of command in the United States government. When you disclose the location of the secret bunker, it ceases to be secret and potentially puts the life of the Vice President, or others who may use it, in danger. But I guess when you're part of an administration that is wasting money by the trillions, what's the big deal with spending a couple billion dollars on constructing new one? Personally, I think our money would be better spent suturing Joe's mouth shut. [link]

March 22, 2009
Barack Obama sits down with Steve Kroft on 60 minutes and proceeds to laugh his way through the entire interview. At one point Steve, who is no right-wing wacko, observes that Obama is laughing at some very serious problems in the country and ask him whether he is "Punch Drunk". Apparently Barack Obama thinks it is funny that the American economy is tanking, that it is hilarious that retired people have lost their life savings and that due to his spending orgy, he will increase the deficit more in the next five than the total amount for every President before him combined. [link]

March 23, 2009
President Barack Obama gave a speech at Orion Energy in Manitowoc, Wis. where he mispronounced the name of the company. Orion, as in the constellation "Orion" was pronounced Or-ee-in instead of the proper pronunciation Or-ri-in. I know this seems like a small issue, but do you remember how much the media and the Democrats criticized President Bush because of his inability to say the word "nuclear" the way they though it should be said? I would expect that President Obama would be able to get this word correct because it is properly pronounced in the movie "Men In Black" staring Will Smith, which I'm sure President Obama has seen. The really funny thing is that in this part of the speech the President Obama stopped to confirm that he was pronouncing the name of Orion's President and CEO (Neal Verfuerth) correctly. At this point he had already mispronounced the companied name once and you can hear people in the background laughing at him for concerning himself about the CEO's name but failing to get the company name right. Now, I don't think this means that President Obama is stupid (there are plenty of other reasons to think that) but it does reveal a double-standard and provide yet another piece of evidence to the existence of a liberal bias within the media. [link]

April 27, 2009
A number of buildings in New York City were evacuated after a trio of low-flying planes flew near the Statue of Liberty. The backup Air Force, flew low over Manhattan on Monday morning, accompanied by two F-16 fighters, so Air Force photographers could take pictures, the New York Times reports. But a lack of awareness about the flyover led to the evacuation of several buildings in Lower Manhattan and Jersey City, N.J., and perplexed officials at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and other authorities were inundated with calls from anxious ferry passengers, office workers and residents in the area. [link]
UPDATE!!!
On May 5th, 2009 the Obama administration announced that it has no plans to release the photos of Air Force One buzzing New York City, claiming the photos are classified. It's kind of hard to claim that photos of Air Force One are classified because everyone knows what this airplane looks like and everyone knows what it did on April 27th. I think that the Obama administration has refused to release these photos because they are a reminder of yet another stupid gaff by this President and his inept administration. [link]
UPDATE 2!!!
On May 7th, 2009 after much public pressure, the Obama administration Flip-Flopped on this issue and stated that they will indeed release one of the photos on the grounds that the taxpayers paid $328,835 for the photo. A White House aide "Louis Caldera" fell on his sword in a pathetic attempt to protect the President from embarrassment. On May 8th, 2009, the photo was released. I have searched extensively and this is the largest copy of the photo I have managed to find. I hope it was worth the $328,835 we paid for it and the terror it provoked in New York

April 30, 2009
Vice President Joe Biden goes on The Today Show on NBC and when he is asked by the interviewer "If a member of your family came to you and said, look, I want to go on a commercial airliner to Mexico and back within the next week, would you think it's a good idea?", the Vice President responds: "I would tell members of my family and I have, I wouldn't go anywhere in confined places now. It's not that you're going to Mexico, it's you're in a confined aircraft, when one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft, that me, I would not be at this point if they had another way of transportation, suggesting they ride the subway. So, from my perspective, what it relates to is mitigation, if you're out in the middle of a field and someone sneezes, that's one thing, if you're in a closed aircraft or closed container or closed car or closed classroom, it's a different thing."
Now, I think we can all agree that this Swine Flu thing is a little scary. The real problem here is that the media has been blowing this issue out of proportion. The World Health Organization acknowledges that there have only been seven deaths from this so-called pandemic, not the hundreds that the media are reporting. A little perspective here, approximately thirty-five thousand people die, on average, each year from the regular everyday flu, so for the Vice President to go on national television and warn people not to go into airplanes or subways or cars or classrooms is extraordinarily damaging to several sectors of our economy that are already hurting from the recession. About me:
Liberals Are EnvironMental

William Bellor's YouTube Channel

I believe that government is the cause of, not the solution to lifes problems. Our founding fathers were really on to something when they realized that the best way to prevent our government from taking our rights from us is to severely limit that governments power, its authority and it's reach into our individual lives. Every time we transfer authority over some seemingly insignificant detail in our lives to the government, we lose a small piece of our freedom.

Dictators, Terrorists and Socialists have a pretty low opinion of America, but a vast majority of the everyday people in those countries would love to immigrate to the U.S. for the opportunities that naturally abound here. There is a downside to freedom, however, because from time to time you will be required to stand up and defend it. The long periods of peace that freedom inevitably produces will often lull us into a false sense of complacency that can be difficult to wake from when it becomes necessary to act decisively. Its times like this when I must sit down and hold my breath when I consider the actions of my Republican Leaders. When there are two political parties and one is slowly walking towards our destruction and the other is running at it at full speed, raping and pillaging along the way, you naturally vote for the party that is doing the least amount of damage. At least the Republicans can be reasoned with, so there is always the possibility that we can correct their actions and steer clear of impending disaster.

If a conservative doesn't like guns, they don't buy one. If a liberal doesn't like guns, then no one should have one.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, they don't eat meat. If a liberal is, they want to ban all meat products for everyone.

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy. A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

If a conservative is homosexual, they quietly enjoy their life. If a liberal is homosexual, they loudly demand legislated respect.

If a black man or Hispanic is conservative, they see themselves as independently successful. Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church. A liberal wants any mention of God or religion silenced.

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. A liberal demands that his neighbors pay for his.

well the same thing happened with me it didnt notify me that u commented me lol.

anyway yeah thats a good point. i share the same opinion reguarding the freedom and no feds. the only little argument is that it would be really easy for kids to get it then. to tell ya the truth it is soooo easy for kids to get alcohol around here. plenty of legal 21 or older "hooks" that get it for kids. some peoples parents get it for their own kids too. i dont know much about it but i know that i would have no way of getting marijuanna if i wanted to because it would be way too hard to around here. now i personally wouldnt want to go through the trouble of trying to get some weed unless i realllllly wanted it, whcih obviously i do not, so im not going to try.. i dont think im the only one either. but alcohol i can get by just opening the pantry door. so my point is is that what if marijuana is legal and these same legal 21 or older "hooks" get it for kids?  it would be easy to get and be at a lot of places (such as parties or houses, pantries ect.) then kids would try it and get hooked. i dont know many people who haved "tried it once". most become lazy liberal stoner losers.

i know the argument is saying how if someones gunna smoke it they will get it no matter what, which is true, but not for kids. i do take the libertarian point of view on this whole topic like u do, but mainly these child problems and standards make me question it.

hey dude its been a while. ive been busy with shit. but after i was done looking at the woman below me named "Virginias" tits, i managed to read "Stop Sarah palins" comment along with yours william. i agree that all, and i mean 100% so far, of all liberals do delete comments and do this insecure inmature behavior when theyre proved wrong. me and u have discovered this from our expirience in the field of debating with liberals (tho u have way more than me). two years ago in eighth grade i got in an argument with some stoner pussies that believed in the bush conspiracy and were exactly like pencil. loser junkie pussies who are failures and idiots and they ended up taking the situation to throwing out personal insults which ended up with me totally beating the shit outta this kid and it was halarious haha. i gave the facts in a very calm manner and these stoners just didnt know what to do so they talked shit and then a nice elbow then a fake straight to right hook would put em down. so the point is is that every liberal of any age all act the same. theyre all hella childish and stupid.

How pathetic!
It looks like "Stop Sarah Palin" is another Pencil/Barack. After I commented on her (I assume it's a her) June 16, 2009 blog entitled "Disappointment with Dave" that I disagreed with her take on Lettermans joke about the rape of Sarah Palins daughter, she has removed me from her friends list and deleted my comments on her blog. What is it about Liberals that when they can't explain themselves intelligently and are made to look stupid by someone else, they delete the postings rather than reexamine their beliefs? It's not like my comments were insulting or rude. because that's not how I roll!
I think I may compose a blog on this issue. My MySpace buddy "People Need To Know" recently suggested an idea for a blog about Obama's inability to accept dissenting opinions in anything and it seems that it isn't only Obama who has a glass jaw; it seems to be all (or at least many) Democrats.
