Originally from Long Island, New York, William Hart Strecker has been writing songs and performing for most of his life. In the 1970’s, his group New Hope released a single, which lead to touring the US. Always a step away from stardom however the group eventually disbanded. Bill Strecker and the country rock group Zanzibar were then managed by Albert Grossman, manager of Bob Dylan and Janis Joplin. After several years, Bill put together the Bill Strecker band, a blues and jazz group. After 3 years he again went out on his own, this time to record and play in England. After a year abroad he returned to the U.S. and left professional music behind. In 1998, after a near fatal accident, Bill decided to get back into professional music.
Since putting together his new band ‘William Hart Strecker’ in 2001, Bill has been composing new music and refining his sound at some of the top clubs in New York City.
