Over just a few years, Williamsburg Jazz Festival (WJF) has become the largest annual cultural event in one of the hippest neighborhoods in New York City – Williamsburg, Brooklyn. WJF expresses Williamsburg’s vibrancy, individualism and creative spirit by featuring world class talent alongside up-and-coming Williamsburg jazz artists and has become an event of international significance.
The WJF’s varied program includes some of the most interesting young voices of today’s NYC jazz scene leading their own bands. The weeklong festival will spread through 5 venues in Williamsburg and will feature free as well as ticketed shows.
This year’s WJF team includes: trumpeter and festival founder, Jesse Selengut; trombonist, Rick Parker; and newly added co-producer Jurate Kajokaite who has produced and curated projects in music, film and photography in both U.S. and Europe in collaboration with Anthology Film Archives, International Vilnius Jazz Festival, Museum of New Mexico, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Inc. to name but a few.
5th Williamsburg Jazz Festival will be highlighted on WKCR 89.9 FM radio on September 19th, in a three-hour program dedicated to WJF artists.
