Willie Stradlin is a Southern Rock/Red Dirt Country band from Northwest Arkansas. They have been together since late 2005. They are heavily influenced by the Texas/Oklahoma Red Dirt scene, and bring to the genre their own brand of rowdy southern Rock ‘n’ Roll. Willie released their debut self-titled CD in September 2007. This 13 song disc was recorded at DirtyBird Studio in Norman Oklahoma with Travis Linville and Mike McClure (Cross Canadian Ragweed) producing. It includes some backup vocals by Austin Allsup, as well as instrumental and vocal performances by Travis and Mike. The disc was mixed and mastered by Joe Hardy (ZZ Top). It includes one Izzy Stradlin cover “Chop Away”, and twelve original tunes. The CD was re-released by Smith Music in April of 2008 and is currently available at all major online outlets including iTunes and CD Baby, and regional Best Buy and Hastings stores.
The disc hit number 10 on the Euro-Americana chart in February of 08, and the first single, "Aint That Right" made a respectable showing on the Texas Music charts.
"Living for the Weekend" was featured on the cover-mount CD of the summer 2008 "Southern Rock Uprising" issue of the UK's Classic Rock magazine along with Black Stone Cherry, Down, Shooter Jennings, Nashville Pussy, Santeria, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Dixie Witch, Molly Hatchet, etc. The magazine sells over 70,000 issues monthly worldwide.
Clive Rubin at thebonustracks.com says... The instruments are fluid and Molton’s vocals give a strong, steady tone throughout all of the songs. The band displays a radio-ready sound that can appeal to music fans of any genre.
Robert K. Oermann from Music Row magazine says “Aint That Right” is… “solidly written, the singing has verve and the instrumental work is tight and confident.”
