Fate’s Chosen Musical Phenomenon. Many people have chosen to leave their hometown and family behind to pursue their dreams in Nashville, TN. But, how many people are brought to Nashville by fate? Fate definitely played a major role in Will Peppers’ musical career. In fact, he would readily admit that it was as if he was “meant to be” amusician in Nashville. Born in Tallassee, Alabama, Will grew up learning from his father, Charles Peppers. Charles was always singing and playing in bands throughout Will’s childhood. Many of Will’s earliest memories include sitting on a bass guitar amp while listening to his father’s music. When Will was eight years old, he performed for the first time with his father’s band, “Dixie Dynamite”. Will clearly remembers, “I sang Hank Williams Junior’s, ‘All My Rowdy Friends Have Settled Down’ right beside my father and I knew at that moment that I wanted to do this forever.” As the club owner placed $5 in his eight year old hand, his heart skipped a beat with the realization that he could have fun performing and actually make money doing it.

Will attended Auburn University on a Pre-Med scholarship, but he just could not stop thinking about music. Instead of being enthralled with medicine, he would write music and lyrics during class. For four years Will studied in school during the week and played the club scene around Montgomery on the nights and weekends. He considered moving to Nashville to pursue music, but was not quite sure he was willing to leave everything behind. In addition to class and performing, Will had a job working for Morrison’s Health Care. At that very moment, fate lifted her hand to help push Will along toward his dreams. He was offered a big promotion at work with only one catch - he would have to move to Nashville! He knew at that moment that what he was meant to do. Will accepted the offer. He worked at Nashville’s Baptist Hospital and was able to meet many country music legends including Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks and Radney Foster. He was soon spending much of his time recording and writing with many of the writers in town, including Radney Foster. Through the connections he made at work, he was able to cut a song that he wrote called “Stay out of My Country” with his long-time idol, Vern Gosdin. It seemed as though destiny had taken hold of Will’s potential career. Will soon became known for his unique and recognizable voice. He had learned from the best including Vern Gosdin, Keith Whitley, Tracy Lawrence, Radney Foster, Alabama, Mark Chesnutt, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr., and Willie Nelson. Yet, he did not sound just like any of them. He had developed his own unique style. Radney Foster said of his voice, “You have one of the best traditional voices I’ve ever heard!”

In December 2007, Will’s dream of being signed to a record label came true. Legendary Mike Borchetta of Lofton Creek Records offered Will a recording contract. His debut single, “Cheaper than a Shrink” will be released in the spring 2008. Jeff Harmon of Opryland Entertainment said of the song, “I can’t get it out of my head. It’s like it’s burned into my brain!” This dynamite song was produced by Darran Smith with engineer, Julian King. While it was a risk to leave everything behind and move to Nashville, Will Peppers followed the direction that fate led him. He now knows that he was destined to be a musician and would not be happy doing anything else. When asked what makes the risks worth it, he responded with, “At the end of the day, I ask myself if I have done something I enjoyed and something that impacted people at the same time. When I’m seventy years old in a rocking chair, I don’t want to have any regrets.” Will is a talented and fearless performer who is destined to be the next big country music star. But according to Vern Gosdin, “He is already a star. I just love his sound.” http://www.myspace.com/willpeppersmusic
