"Navasota, a reference to her East-Central Texas crossroads hometown, is dedicated "In loving memoriam" to local alt-country luminary Will Quinlan's mother. Many of the songs seem to be brilliantly detailed odes and eloquent prayers to her. He's accompanied on the collection by co-producer Steve Connelly's ace guitar/Dobro/mandolin/pedal steel work, Rebekah Pulley's crystalline backing vocals and a mostly subdued, spot-on rhythm section. Remembering one's mother in song, without sounding maudlin, is no easy task. Quinlan pulls it off on a batch of numbers that demand close inspection, tackling sensitive subject matter with courage and finesse. 4 stars - CREATIVE LOAFING, TAMPA
"Will Quinlan turns raw emotion into rock poetry on “Navasota,” an album that is easily on par with the best of the Americana genre. It’s gritty, sorrowful, angry and ultimately triumphant – real life always sounds better with loud guitars. TAMPA TRIBUNE
"...one of the best alt-country bands I've seen in a very long while. WQ & The Diviners' gallop is characterized by loving detail and elegant restraint...a well-bred affair that echoes almost every great artist that defined the genre." - ORLANDO CITY BEAT
"Nobody around here infuses four chords with whiskey, hope and heartbreak like Quinlan and company, bringing to mind an enthralling amalgam of porch and gutter that speaks for generations of Americans."
