So I figured one day that if God wanted me to record an album, it really didn't matter what record labels thought about it right? So I started recording...and an album came out. Granted, it was 6 months of long nights and weekends in the studio (Its called a studio, it's more of a quaint room with a small amount of studio gear).
For Darkness to Light, my awesome brother Dan played drums, and I was somehow able to do the rest. I definitely feel like God taught me how to mix and master. I'm currently working on drums so I can one day record an entire album by myself.
I'm living my life to create projects that can hopefully carry a sense of the presence of God to the hurting and hungry hearts. One day, when I'm more wise, books will probably be included, but for now it's music. These songs are anthems of my life. I live to these prayers put to music.
Influences
Old School Vineyard Albums, Kent Henry, my brother Jim, about anybody who tops the pop charts (for their amazing ability to reach the masses), a bunch of indie bands (for their ability to be unique).
Honestly, though, I believe that far too much worship is influenced more by the world than by the presence of God. So many of the creative ideas that the worship musicians come up with are inspired by bands and guitar players who neither understand nor care about the presence of God...I honestly wonder if my playing is any better.
Right now, I'm just working to get to the place where I can honestly say that my relationship wth God has completely inspired the sounds, the words, and the feeling of the albums that I record. I'm praying about recording a worship album over a 20 day fast...who knows...

WORSHIP SHOULD BE FREE...PAY WHATEVER YOU WANT on the newly redesigned www.willstern.com Seriously...it's completely ok to pay $0.
Every single dollar that it makes will benefit Mercy Ministries of America. An AWESOME organization for girls and young women who face life-controlling issues. That's right, whether this album sells 1 copy or 1 million copies, I don't pocket a dime.

I have found that the most amazing thing you can do with your life is to invest it in the local church. I’ve found that if you dedicate your life to building God’s house, then He is more than faithful to build yours. (I mean seriously, every money making skill in my life got developed from simply serving my church!) But who really cares about money making skills when caring about the lives of others is what's so amazing about it? It's funny how the people who serve others have all the same issues as everyone else, the issues just seem to control their lives WAY less.
I've also found that the happiest Christians on the planet live for who they can help TODAY...for who they can love TODAY. They also seem to continually challenge themselves with the goal of seeing how much a single human can love others. But then again, when you poke Jesus, He bleeds for others too, now doesn't he? So maybe it's not the happiest Christians at all, but the most Christlike ones...hmm
Music is the third love of my life, outside of God, and people. It’s one of the languages of the heart. That's why God (who cares foremost about the heart) loves worship the way He does. I guess i should say He loves true worship. Outside of giving my life to build God’s house…which is people…I’ve given my life to try to become a truer worshipper. God help me to far remove from my life anything that nullifies the song on my lips and to walk in complete obedience, which is eternally better than any sacrifice i could bring.
I love my God...can you tell???
