Bio
THE BIOGRAPHY OF WILLY CHIN REMIX Willy Chin/ Willy Chin Remix How I got my Name? My name wasn’t fully developed until 1999. Supa Dups (Blackchiney) and Steve Chin both contributed to it. In my childhood days, Steve gave me the nickname Free Willy because of my weight. As the years past and I lost weight, my nickname got shortened to Willy. The “Chin” wasn’t added until 1999, when Dups brought it to my attention that a few Chinese reggae selectors have the name Chin. After that day I started to use the name Willy Chin. Selector Background I have been playing music for roughly five/six years. While growing up, Supa Dups inspired me to become a selector. Also I worked at a music/record store, Light And Sound Equipment, where I sold records and Pro audio equipment so I was always around music. Another person who contributed to my musical career would be Paul Chin (Cosmic Force); I used to follow him whenever he went to play at a wedding or any other type of function. At first, my job was to help him set up the sound and he would occasionally let me mix the dancehall songs for him, but the more functions we did, the more I would play, from Oldies to the New songs. Working with him gave me a chance to broaden my knowledge in music. I would play more than just reggae, for instance, soca/calypso, salsa, merengue, country, souls, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, Rock & Roll, and much more. At the same time I would be doing my own house parties playing music for the younger crowd playing the reggae and the hip-hop. Volume One CD has already been released and volume two will be hitting the stores soon. www.willychinremix.com willychinremix@blackchiney.com .... .. -
