The Father - Kool DJ Herc - Many footsteps followed his trail blazed path. Kool Herc is HIP HOP.
Sacred Ground of Hip Hop – August 11, 1973 – Location of 1st Hip Hop House Party
The Home of Kool DJ Herc the Father of Hip Hop – Only a few hundred can claim to have been there in the beginning.
Sacred Ground of Hip Hop – Location of 1st Park Jam – Kool Herc’s Parties became so popular he took it outside and down the block to Cedar Park. This is the Launching Pad. Hip Hop would circle the world from this spot in the Boogie Down Bronx. – Thousands came that 1st night and thousands and thousands more heard the word. On this hot summer night, in a small dark park, would go on to inspire many to be like Herc (this was before everyone wanted to be like Mike) - torch bearers and pioneers in their own right like Afrika Bambaataa, Grand Wizzard Theodore, Grandmaster Caz, Melle Mel, the Chief Rocker Busy Bee, Coke La Roc, the Twins, Grandmaster Flash, Sha-rock, Charlie Chase, Jazzy Jay, and on, and on and on…
The miracle of Hip Hop is that something so big came out of something so small. Kids from the Bronx created a culture unique to the World. And from these humble beginnings Hip Hop would conquer the world – One Love!
The Pioneers wish you, your family and friends a safe and Happy New Year. And especially PEACE.
