From Sunday, October 7th, the cream of Winchester’s musical crop will be joining forces to perform as part of a seven day marathon celebration in aid of one of the world’s largest charities.
Incorporating styles as diverse as indie rock to nu-rave, hip hop and trip hop to soul, electronica and ska, a selection of home-grown talents, together with those who play regularly in the city such as Captain Phoenix, The Ashbies, James Bright and Tali Trow will be appearing at venues across the city to help stamp out poverty across the globe.
Organised by Winchester-based music promoter Rob Ball, together with Chris Roberts and musician Craig Lockwood, Oxjam Winchester 2007 is part of a national drive to raise awareness of Oxfam’s work through the medium of music events and is supported by many national music-orientated organisations including MTV and XFM.
Throughout the month, people across the country are putting on thousands of music events across the UK to raise money for Oxfam – all with the shared aim of joining together to make music, raise money and to end poverty.
We are extremely fortunate here in Winchester in that we have a large pool of musical talent which I would say is of as high a standard as you will find anywhere in the country. Oxjam gives up and coming bands the chance to get themselves heard and people in and around Winchester the chance to listen to some of the freshest new music on the scene – whilst raising money for an extremely worthwhile cause.

Thanks for the add and your interest in the Bright Skies Festival!
Please spread the word about the festival that is in aid of Cancer Research UK! The more people who are added, the better chance we have of the biggest bands playing as well as more stages for unsigned talent and the more money raised so spreading the word really means a lot to us!
If you would like to get involved, please send us a message and if you would like your name on the Supporters List as a show of thanks for your support: please send your birthname (first name and surname - no nicknames please) and don't forget to check the latest bulletin for an easy way of promoting the festival!
We've got a number of very impressive bands interested in playing the festival, and, although we won’t announce the lineup for a while, we know you’ll be giddy with excitement when it is released! We have a banner that we’d love for you to put on your profile – The code is sent out in bulletins along with the bulletin-repost code.
We really need your help in spreading the word if we're to make this event a success and maximise donations!
Thanks so much for your interest - it really means a lot to us to have your support!
Myself and George are DJing at Kinky Angel @ Censo, Bournemouth on Thursday 7th June under our Funkface persona. I'm hitting the decks at midnight, with George joining me for two hours from 1AM, then he's on his own from 3-4AM, when the club closes.
It would be awesome if you could all join us, as the club is beautiful and this could be the start of a new residency for us if all goes well!
Cheers,
Rob.
