I'm a beginning photographer. I've been interested in the idea of photography all my life, but I never had the patience for film photography. The delay between taking the pictures and seeing the pictures is just too long. It's incompatible with the way I learn to do things.
Digital photography has changed all that, and I've spent the last year fooling around with a Konica-Minolta point-and-shoot.
Now, at the beginning of 2006, I've decided to get serious about learning the craft of photography. I've spent an insane amount of money on a digital SLR (and lenses and memory and lighting and filters and and and...) I'm carrying the camera everywhere, and once I get comfortable using it, I'm going to start some projects.
By training and trade, I'm a software developer. It's due to some recent good fortune in that field that I can afford the camera equipment.
