Captain Winscale is a one man master of musical mediocrity. A promonant member of the sheffield drinking scene, he collaborates regularly with a wide range of sheffield musicians who often coax him into a studio sober enough to do some actual work.
His often calamatous rantings can be found fused into lively rhythm and blues masterpieces, by his talented friends.
Influences
Punk, The Bonzo Dog Band, Sparks, The Black and White Minstrels, David Bowie, Spike Jones, Noel Coward, Shawaddywaddy, Julie London, Gomez.. Stuff like that
Sounds Like
Captain Winscale has a voice a little like Tom Waits after drinking a gallon of Brasso followed by a Diesel Colada chaser, 60 Park Drives and a kebab. It is enough to bring a tear to the eye.
After many hours of painful and transforming surgery in 1987, Captain Winscale emerged reborn, rebuilt and ready to become a new kind of artist, a type never witnessed before, a new breed who would prefer to just throw away those keys forever, never punctual, rarely in tune but with passion and performance that continues to impress. All he ever required was lots of alcohol, a single egg and a solitary onion each week to survive.
Over 20 years he has shocked many with his poems, disgusted many more with his stories, while his engaging charm and effortless performances continue to delight audiences across the globe. His only ambition is to do everything again, just as well but with less effort than the last time.

THIS IS NEW. An open Mic night especially for Songwriters to showcase their work.
ARE YOU INTO THE SPOKEN WORD. Another new night at Burton Street.
An ‘Open-Mic’ for creative writers to perform their work or just for poetry lover to read our their favourite writing. Better than slouching on the sofa watching telly!!
Burton Streets next Open Mic night for Bands and Solo Artists is on Sat 15th Sept
Dosch would like to make it clear that we wish to completely disassociate ourselves with any leather clad, pointed toed, stringbean calling himself Winscale. (Be he Captain, Corporal or even General for that matter)
Liebes Herz der Grüße. Es war absolut herrlich, dich zu sehen, an den zwei Hüten zu beachten, vor kurzem sich zu beraten. Bis bald alter Junge. Zackenzacken
