AUSTRALIAN RELEASE ON INERTIA DISTRIBUTION OUT NOW - SSJ001
REVIEWS
"Songwriting skills alone make this one of the year's best releases, but considering the band's musicianship and knack for brooding moodiness (insert Thomas Thomas) it's almost untouchable. Mike Wafer, XPress Magazine, 13.11.08
"Thomas Thomas is undoubtedly one of the best songs doing the pub rounds in this little town and appears bigger and better than ever. Closer Oliver is another highlight" Matthew Hogan, Drum Media, Single Of The Week, 06.11.08
"Emphasis on melody has clearly been reinforced in the new ethos and songwriting has stepped up a notch to bring the band’s sound into clearly more unique and accessible territory" Ben Swan, FasterLouder.com 30.10.08
STREETLIGHT - WOLF NOTES(EP)
AUSTRALIAN RELEASE ON INERTIA DISTRIBUTION OUT NOW - STR002
REVIEWS
"With an infectious dance-crossover element akin to The Music throughout, Wolf Notes is a simpler and bolder Streetlight, packed with great melodies, great grooves, and a newfound confidence. Nothing displays this confidence more than Leigh Craft's vocals, which have gone from brooding, almost-miserable mumblings, to a flat-out, courageous-sounding powerhouse of tone, warmth and energy.
Between this and the new Snowman album, Dave Parkin has finally evolved from engineer to producer, and in doing so has allowed a band like Streetlight to finally shine... and Wolf Notes is close to blinding."
Mike Wafer - Xpress Magazine

"Record of the year thus far no doubt" - X-press Magazine
"A song ('Streamers') I can't get out of my head. A wonderful place to be." 5/5 - Richard Kingsmill, triple j
"Geoff Symons' sensitive haunted tenor is given dramatic tension by michael lake's almost narrative guitar playing, hanging back providing spidery notes in the more contemplative moments and rising to wall-of-sound sonics when an emotional wallop is needed..........(they) uncover a collision between psychedelic furs and tortoise in the closing track 'vapours wrecked your knives', blending appropriately understated post-punk crooning and hypnotic guitar/xylophone patterns. all in all, an immensely promising debut from a band definitely worth keeping an eye and ear on." 4/5 - Rave Magazine
"There's not a dud moment here. every track has a vitality and honesty that's utterly gripping.........studied, solid and revealing a substantial knack for powerful and emotionally resonant songwriting, Umpire prove how important they are to local music. One of the best local rock releases of the year, if not THE best." CD OF THE WEEK - The Drum Media

Hey Winterborn. Thanks for the friendship and welcome to Bands@Manjimup. We have a few really exciting events coming up like our recent concert, on Friday 20th, featuring Elora Danan on their debut album tour, Manji prog rock band Ashoka and Perth ambient rockers Laced Affair. It was a high energy show with fantastic sound, and those who came got to meet the bands for more than an hour afterwards. The pictures are now up as a slideshow. Check them out at the top of our profile.
Next, we'll be hosting the biggest regional event in this year's WAMi Festival calendar, on 22nd May. The support acts: Abbe May, Sneaky Weasel Gang, Desert Radio and Ashoka. The headline is now definitely CALERWAY. Following day Abbe (songwriting) , Drew Goddart (guitar) from Karnivool, Roy Martinez (bass) and Sean Sibbes (drum tuning, cymbal selection and kit set-up) from Eskimo Joe will feature as lecturers in our B@M Youth Muso Workshops.
The June gig will feature an even bigger headline band, probably supported by local heroes Ashoka and Electrostatik.
We'll keep you updated with bulletins and you may want to tap into the bands listed on our Top 40. You'll always find the performers at our next gig right up the top. At the other end you'll find bands that have recently played, followed by acts, who want to play at B@M. Send us a comment if you like them and they maybe get the go.
Lastly: PLEASE VOTE AGAINST DAYLIGHT SAVING! It prevents proper FX lighting at outdoors concerts before 9pm in summer. Especially for support bands. It’s gotta go!!! Peace, The Terminator
