Influences
Winter Jamfest 2007 line-up -
Bands:
Moonshine Still (MsS)
MsS...Formed in the late 1990s Moonshine Still (MsS), a nationally touring 6-piece band, has garnered a large grassroots following with their unparalleled live performances. The band is propelled by seamless jams with stunning guitar work, wonderful keyboard solos and amazing vocals.
Fresh off of high profile performacnes like Bonarroo and Moe.Down 7, MsS has become an electronic layered Rock Show that is not to be missed!
Pnuma Trio
The Pnuma Trio is the latest addition to the electronic music scene, bringing with them classical, jazz, funk, hip hop, and drum and bass influences. Their music, although full of youthfulness, can be enjoyed by a diverse audience. A recent article in Art Voice magazine dubbed the Pnuma Trio the “music of the future.“
The Bridge
From their gritty and grand live performances to authentically crafted albums, The Bridge has carved their niche as one of the Mid-Atlantic’s most popular young bands. Add one part Bluegrass, one part Blues, and genuine soul and funk, The Bridge is a band defined by their songwriting abilities.
U-Melt
With the release of their second studio album "The I's Mind", NYC based U-Melt continues its progression of becoming the band it wants to be-a band without boundaries. While creating a cohesive album which perfectly flows from one song to the next, "The I's Mind" showcases U-Melt's ability to distance themselves from traditional labels, revealing a unique sound by combining intense and captivating compositions with soulful lyrics and infectious grooves that will keep your feet moving and your mind floating. After branching out to the Midwest with great success in 2006, U-Melt is ready to share their organic progressive groove with the rest of the nation.
Captain Soularcat
Capt. Soularcat formed in Rome, GA, a northern suburb of Atlanta in August of 2000. Over the course of the last 5 years, they have progressed from a local band performing at a neighborhood bar, to becoming one of the new driving forces in rock & roll music. They are now a nationally touring band performing in many of the country’s best festivals and venues.
Old Union
Imagine a musical road trip through Memphis and Muscle Shoals with side trips to Texas and Detroit, ending up in Macon and you have a idea of the distinctive American rock and roll of Old Union. With musical influences as varied as the individual members, the music of Old Union has been described as fresh and new, yet with a cool retro vibe.
Elemental Harmonics
Elemental Harmonics is a three piece ensemble from Atlanta, Georgia with a fresh vision of music. Drawing inspiration from the roots of dub, drum'n'bass, house, funk, hip hop, and jazz they create a dynamic blend of harmonic textures, percolating melodies, and phat dancable beats. Tastefully blending computer generated sounds and live sequencing, with improvisation and song structure, EH gives way to a space where nature and technology find peace.
The Loft
"The Loft was easily one of the stand-out bands I saw during SXSW-week" - Sean Claes (Managing Editor, INsite Magazine - Austin, TX)
"Soulful, funky, creative, and cool." - Jesse Jarnow (jambands.com)
This is just some of the praise heaped upon Nashville, TN based band The Loft. Since completing their now 6 piece lineup in 2001, the band has built an evergrowing fanbase through both constant touring and 2 independently released CDs. Drawing comparisons to artists as diverse as Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Black Crowes, the band combines elements of rock, funk, and blues into a sound that's uniquely their own, yet 100% undeniably rock n roll.
Fusebox Funk
Eclectic to say the very least, Fusebox Funk delivers an eccentric blend of Funk, Rock, Hip Hop and Blues. Hailing from an extremely diverse music scene in Florida, this is a high energy powerhouse of culture.
Aerial 2012
Aerial2012 is an Atlanta founded sextet that fuses Electronica, Rock, Jazz, and World Music to create a unique and highly energetic sound that has put them at the top of both the critic's and the people's lists on both American coasts. Atlanta's Creative Loafing awarded the group recognition for their musical contributions and performances as the "Best of Atlanta" for 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2005.
Looney Mill
Looney Mill is a band from the Birmingham area in Alabama. It was formed in 2005 as a three-piece band growing into its current line-up. Looney Mill is influenced by all different types of music incorporating an eclectic range of styles to form an ever evolving sound. LM covers a variety of songs, which on any given night may include music in your cd player at home, or maybe even your parents' 8-track player in the closet.
Traveling North
Traveling North is a dynamic band that delivers fresh, energetic original songs based in rock and blues. Their ability to please audiences from 18 to 55 has raised many eyebrows with musical sophistication rarely exhibited by such young artists (ages 18-26). TN also covers such notables as Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews and Johnny Cash with genuine twists.
Big City Sunrise
Emerging as the jewel of the grass roots music scene and having shared bills with bands such as The Derek Trucks Band, MOFRO, members of Leftover Salmon, Jeff Coffin, Moonshine Still, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Big City Sunrise has garnered quite a following by creating a unique and energetic atmosphere at every show. Bluegrassjam.net said, “Few young bands blow your central spinal nodes clean out the first time you see them, but these guys smacked it down with lightning….I was literally blow away, you could say my Tevas are still scorched into the concrete!”

The Big House Foundation's goal is quite simple, but extremely challenging: to keep the Big House and its treasured archival collection intact, and open it to the public as the Allman Brothers Band Museum. Future plans include computer access to all documents, photos and other items from the archives, as well as hands-on, interactive displays. In addition, a musical education program for children will be a cornerstone of the Allman Brothers Band Museum, as all the members of the ABB recognize the difference music can make in the lives of young people, and how it helps to promote multi-cultural unity and understanding in our country.

Here's a video that was captured of me offering my bottleneck slide interpretation of an old blues song, Goin' T' Brownsville, on open mic night at Old Strokers in Everett, WA. It starts out with me briefly introducing my homemade "Nobro" resophonic guitar and explaining some of the various recycled garage sale junk that I used in it's construction. Enjoy!
